Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayons {Review}

Happy first day of fall! I don't know about you, but I use this time of year as a great reason to pick up some new makeup for fall. Lately, I've been totally obsessed with lip products. During the summer months I really try to stay natural with light pinks and tinted lip balms, but for fall, I just get hit with a fever to have a lippie that really packs a punch and I knew right where to turn....Bite Beauty!

I've said it before and I'll continue to say it that Bite Beauty is one of my absolute favorite brands for lip products. They always smell great, are moisturizing, contain great ingredients and unlike many other lip products they really last a long time! I also had a formal military event to attend with my boyfriend and so I knew that I wanted a color that was a little more neutral and wearable so I wouldn't have to be worrying about my lipstick all night, but I also wanted a color I'd get a lot of use out of for a lot of different occasions. I settled on Sucre which is a warm pink color. I loved it so much that later I went back and purchased Peche which is a warm peach.

Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayons ($24,
Naturally derived orange peel wax is extracted from oranges and provides the same benefits for your lips as it does for the juicy fruit: protects and seals moisture while providing a waterproof layer on the surface of the lips. These creamy crayons are longwearing, rich in colour, a deliver a burst of citrus scent upon application.

Triple-milled pigments are combined with organic fruit butters, jojoba and castor oil to provide a creamy, yet powdery-light finish. The 5mg of antioxidant rich resveratrol fights free radicals around the lip line. The matte finish takes the colours from gaudy to gorgeous.

As I get older, I'm more drawn to matte shades than I use to be. I use to be all about the glossy shiny finish. Now I find myself reaching for a lot more mattes in both lip products and eye products. I just think it really gives you a classic look that you can't go wrong with. The matte finish was just another great feature of these lip products. The color is highly pigmented and one swipe is all you need. I do like how these come with a pointed tip which makes it really easy to perfectly line your lips but of course after a couple of uses the tip starts to become rounded.

What I really love about this product is that it is totally worry free. Every time I stopped in the bathroom during my formal event, I would do a makeup check. I would re-apply some lipstick out of habit sometimes even though really it looked perfect still. It really lasted great throughout a night which included some drinks, food and lots of conversation. I loved that I didn't have to worry about my lipstick fading unevely, traveling over the lip line or smearing at all. I also absolutely loved the color and I've worn it many times since. Each time it has felt moisturizing and really lasted hours upon hours. There are so many gorgeous colors in this line too that you really must check them out!

What do you think of this color or line of lip crayons? Have you tried Bite Beauty before? Comment and let me know, I'd love to hear from you!

Fend off the Seasonal Flu with Walgreens Get a Shot

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #GetAShot #CollectiveBias

With flu season right around the corner, it's important to know about your available community resources to fend off the pesky seasonal flu bug. When I need a flu shot or immunization, I go to Walgreens. I chose to go to Walgreens because it has convenient locations, the shots are affordable and may be covered by insurance, the service was quick and the staff was knowledgeable. I definitely felt comfortable getting my flu shot at Walgreens and also felt that I would be protected for flu season.

One other thing I'm truly impressed about at Walgreens is their Get a Shot. Give a Shot. campaign. This is a partnership with the United Nation Foundation's Shot@Life campaign. For every flu shot or immunization you receive at Walgreens from September 2nd through October 13th, you will help provide a life-saving vaccine to a child in a developing country. Walgreens also donates flu vaccines in the United States and has donated $10 million worth of free flu shot vouchers to Americans without health insurance coverage for a flu shot and those unable to afford one without a voucher through the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to help drive immunization rates among underserved populations throughout the country.

I've been lucky to have the opportunity to travel and to see a lot of wonderful and beautiful places. One of the places that I've traveled to that most sticks out in my mind is Cyprus. It has an interesting history as it is a politically divided island which is comprised of mainly of people of Turkish or Greek descent.

I was able to see first hand some of stark differences between other countries and the United States. It definitely made me thankful for where I live and the ability to have access to health care and immunizations. It is important to me to support a program like Walgreens Get a Shot. Give a Shot and the United Nation Foundation Shot@Life campaign that helps those that are not quite as fortunate.

Did you know?
  • Immunization is one of the world's biggest public health success stories. Yet, 1 in 5 children around the globe still lack access to the lifesaving immunizations. Coordinated worldwide vaccination efforts have made significant progress, particularly in reducing cases of measles and polio.
  • Seventy-five percent of unvaccinated children live in just 10 countries.
  • Vaccines are an especially important health intervention because they level the playing field for the most vulnerable children who are otherwise unlikely to make it to a doctor or a hospital.
  • Vaccines have won several battles against preventable diseases in the last few decades. Thanks to a coordinated global effort, the number of new cases of polio — a disease that once paralyzed more than 1,000 children a day — has dropped 99 percent in the last 20 years.
So if you're planning on getting a flu shot this season, be sure to stop by your local convenient Walgreens location. Do so before before October 13th so you can be part of the Get a Shot. Give a Shot campaign which will help provide a life-saving vaccine to a child in a developing country.

Tarte's Timeless Smoothing Primer

I definitely notice that as I get older, I put more and more of a focus on skin care and products which can help and hide the early signs of aging. I find a less is more approach works better and I find myself more drawn to simple makeup that creates a natural and healthy finish. One of the products I've been reaching for a lot lately to accomplish that kind of look is Tart'es Timeless Smoothing Primer.

Press Sample. All opinions are my own.
I'm kind of a primer junkie and I've tried countless primers. A few years ago I didn't even know what a primer was or why you should use it, but now it is a daily step in my makeup routine that can't be miss. Basically a primer is a base for you foundation. It can smooth out your skin and any imperfections and also make your foundation last longer.

A melt-in smoothing primer with innovative blurring and filling technology for a youthful appearance perfectly primed for makeup application. Gently melts into the skin delivering a surge of moisture, peptides and other naturally-derived elixirs for a firmer, smoother appearance. You’ll love the lightweight texture and fresh powder scent as it provides the perfect blank canvas to enhance the look and wear time of makeup. Contains Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Green Bean Extract and Mineral Pigments. Retails $39 for .5 fl ounces.

My thoughts:
Overall I really like this product. I notice the biggest difference in some fine lines I have on my forehead. When I apply this primer to that area, I can visibly see the lines being filled in thus becoming less noticeable. The other big thing I notice with this product it that my skin is so absolutely smooth after. I just love the silky feeling this leaves me with. This also provided a nice canvas to apply my makeup over. I usually use Tarte's colored clay CC Primer with a DHC Skincare pressed powder over. I did notice my makeup wore well with this primer but not noticeably different than other primers. Although this is a large jar of product, it does come at a $39 price tag. I prefer primers in bottles that I can squeeze the product out. I tend to overuse products otherwise and have found that you don't need a lot of this product to cover your skin.

Check out my reviews of Tarte's Colored Clay products. If you're looking to purchase just one or two (or a few!) items from Tarte this fall, I would first pick up the colored clay tinted brow gel, colored clay cc undereye corrector and the rainforest palette. Which Tarte product are you in love with for fall?
