How to Get Naturally Glowing Skin
We've all pretty much heard the cucumber on the eyes trick, but what other natural fruits and veggies are out there to give us healthy beautifully glowing skin the natural way? Meet my two new best friends, the lemon and the tomato! These are two of my newest "products" in my natural skincare arsenal.
Tip #1: Eat a tablespoon of tomato paste per day.
I recommend buying organic as tomatoes do carry a higher pestcide residue and also from a can not made with BPA lining with no added salt. Trader Joe's has a good inexpensive can of tomato paste that is under $1 and it will last at least 10 days. One tablespoon contains 10% of your daily Vitamin C needs and 7.5% Vitamin A and is 15 calories. Its like eating a dozen tomatoes on one spoonful. You will get a high dose of lycopene which is an antioxidant that fights the free radicals that can interfere with normal cell growth and potentially lead to cancer, heart disease and premature aging. Lycopene in tomato paste is four times more easily absorbed!
Tip #2: Lots of Vitamin C
Lemons are a great source of Vitamin C. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that slow the rate of free radical damage that can cause skin dryness, fine lines and wrinkles. It may even also reduce sunburn and prevent the consequences of long term sun exposure. Lemons are so easy to incorporate into your diet. They can be added onto salads for extra flavor, you can squeeze them into your water, you can make lemonade, add to rice or couscous and flavor meats. There are probably 100 ways to use lemons. I usually go through 1/2 a lemon to 1 lemon per day. Bonus, they are around $1 each and you can get a lot of use out of them. After I've squeezed the juice out, I usually wipe my counters with the remainder and then throw it down the garbage disposal for some disinfecting.
Tip #3: Eat 12 almonds a day.
Almonds are fantastic for you and are one of the best snacks you can pick. I always buy raw almonds. You can get them at a decent price from Costco in a 3 pound bag or in the bulk section of your grocery store. Almonds can get pricey, so buying them in bulk in a great way to save. Not only are they overall a healthy snack for you, their fantastic for your skin. Almonds are rich in Vitamin E which is an important antioxidant for your skin. They can also help detox your body and remove free radicals. You could also grind up almonds and make a face scrub or buy some almond oil and apply it to your skin.
So there you have it, my top three tips for how to get glowing skin...the natural way! What is your top tip? Comment and let me know, I'd love to hear from you!
