Bite Sized Energy!

Bite Sized Energy with Energems!
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Energems.

There are so many energy products out there on the market. The ones most of us are familiar with are usually in liquid form, promising endless amounts of energy. I was very intrigued when I received the Energems for review. They look like giant M&Ms and are made with real milk chocolate and are infused with energy by using caffeine, B vitamins and a proprietary energy mix! I've been testing these out for about a week and they definitely gave me a noticeable boost. I had a rough work week last week and so these definitely came in handy and I will definitely continue to use these in the future.

In the mornings when I'm in a rush and getting ready for work I usually make a cup of coffee but only get to finish about half of that cup before rushing out the door. It's much easier to grab three Energems and be on my way! These are also perfect for those on the go or those that like to go on long walks or hikes because you could put a few of these in your pocket for a boost when needed. They aren't going to be a bother to carry around, you don't have to worry about crashing, you get a chocolate treat and even better is they are only 15 calories each. I've heard of runners bringing jelly beans with them for a much needed pick up later. I'd prefer Energems since they also have vitamins!

Chocolate charge, Mint fusion, Peanut butter blast
Mint is my favorite!
  • One serving (three gems) is the equivalent of one energy drink and there are three servings per box. Each box retails for $2.99.

Energems are energy supplements that are bite-sized, hard-coated gems made with real milk chocolate. Designed for the modern, on-the-go consumer, they contain caffeine, B vitamins and a proprietary energy blend. Think of them as a great alternative to traditional energy drinks and energy shots!

Make Up For Ever Artisan Brushes {Review}

Make Up For Ever Artisan Brushes

Go to their interactive website here: http://artofbrushes.makeupforever.com/ which includes a brush finder, pro tips, brush encyclopedia, backstage information & photos! Available at Sephora, Sephora.com and Make up for ever boutiques.

I was instantly attracted to this collection. First because I expect the highest of quality from Make Up For Ever's products and second because I absolutely "have a thing" for makeup brushes! A few years ago before I was really into makeup, I wouldn't even know what to do with a makeup brush or know why they were important. Using a brush to apply your makeup can completely change the look of a product, optimizing the potential of each product, whether drugstore or high-end. It can make makeup application easier and make a flawless look completely achievable. I received these brushes as press samples from the company. This post reflects my honest opinions based on extensive testing.

"MAKE UP FOR EVER proudly announces a revolution in brushes with the introduction of seventy-six cutting-edge brushes, the most expansive luxury brush collection available today. The construction of each brush involved 25 unique stages, and was hand-crafted by a total of 30 people from start to finish."
Final result using the five brushes pictured above
"What differentiates this brush collection from any other is the specific synthetic fiber technology that exists in several diameters and types: wavy or straight depending on the required use. When fibers are straight, application is more generous and precise, while wavy bristles are more splayed, allowing for a lighter and freer application. A unique combination of the two fiber textures gives infinite creative possibilities. The softness and performance of each set of bristles is ensured by using tweezers and not scissors, while fibers are fixed in place with a ferrule made from a gunmetal barrel. With no detail spared, the beech wood brush handles were created with a beveled end to allow for easier product retrieval and can be used to assist in faux lash application."

The Artisan Brush Collection is classified in a way that is
extremely practical for artists everywhere:
100s = complexion
200s = eyes
300s = lips
400s = artistic specially designed for professionals
MUFE brushes

122 Blending Brush $48
Created with two distinct, straight bristle lengths, this versatile brush can be used for varying application techniques. Its delicate, flexible end allows for a natural, translucent foundation result while its firmness allows you to build coverage if desired. This ultra soft brush can be used with liquid foundations as well as loose and compact powders and is ideal for applying foundation to sensitive skin.
I've used this to apply liquid foundation as well as apply loose powder, blush and a highlighter. I think it was successful in all of those uses. In the future I will probably mainly use this to apply a highlighter onto the cheekbone area. I like my highlighters to appear like an effortless natural glow and having a fluffy soft brush like this can definitely accomplish that. When I use this brush with loose powder, it also does a great job and I finish off areas like my chin, under my eyes and around my nose with the more densely packed buffer blush brush.
158 Double Ended Sculpting Brush $53
Boasting two brushes in one, this double-ended brush is the perfect tool for powder application and sculpting. Use the rounded side, with has both straight and wavy fibers, for traditional powder application or highlighting. The angled side, which features wavy fibers, is perfect for sculpting the cheekbones. This brush can be used with loose and compact powders.
This is definitely a must have brush! My favorite aspect of this brush is the angled end. I use a Mally contour shade that is a matte light brown color from my Mally Shape, Shimmer & Brighten. I find that this angled end fits perfectly into the hollows of my cheeks, thus making application of a contour shade to shape my face and make it appear slimmer insanely easy. Love it! I use the other end as a blush brush and have been applying my Smashbox blush in Bare, which is a perfectly gorgeous natural shade. This brush is more expensive at $53, but it contains two absolutely essential pieces to any makeup collection and really is a 2 in 1 product!
154 Buffer Blush Brush $44
This tool was designed like a shaving brush for creating a high-performance, doll-like blush effect. With the use of small circular movements, the firm bristles can layer powder blush for a smooth, bold look or blend colors quickly and easily for a softer, more natural tone. This brush features straight and wavy fibers, and can be used with loose and compact powders.
My main uses for this brush is for some finishing touches with loose setting powder. I concentrate using this brush underneath my eyes, around my nose, on my chin and over any imperfections. Small circular motions work best with this densly packed brush. I have applied my Smashbox blush in Bare with this for the perfect natural boost of color. They are match made in heaven! I find this brush is easy to use with either loose powder or traditional blush. When applying blush, I start with the apples of my cheeks and make small circular motions up towards my hairline.
204 Double-ended Shader & Smudger Brush $25
This brush features a short, rounded, tapered eye shadow brush on one end. The other end is tipped with a rounded and tapered sponge applicator, used to blend and smudge. This two-in-one tool features straight fibers, is easy and quick to use, and is effective with creams, pencils, liquids, and pressed powders.
The shader end of this is a very small brush for eyeshadow application. I found it worked best for me when applying loose eyeshadow as a thicker liner on the upper lash line. It worked great to pack on that loose shadow. If you're trying to apply a base color or work with an all over lid color, this will take a little more work. For me, this is going to be reserved for finer details, packing on loose color, and creating thicker lines. As for the sponge applicator on the other end, I'm usually not as much of a fan of sponge applicators and found this to be just okay. It didn't quite work to apply shadow on the lower lash line and it created a little bit of a mess when I tried to use it as a smudger. It is a good price for a 2 in 1 brush, but could be one you can skip.
414 Body Kabuki $43
The flat shape of this brush makes it ideal for quick application. The flexible, wavy fibers create an even, consistent tone, and can be used with all pressed and loose powders.
I wanted to test out this brush as I have some body foundation and powder bronzers for body that just don't work great when applied with my hands or with the included applicator. I thought a brush like this would make application of body products much easier, more even and quicker! This is definitely a handy brush to have!
120 Medium Powder Fan Brush $31
This iconic fan-shaped brush was originally designed to clean off excess product from the face or under the eyes. Its unique shape also delivers artistic results such as watercolor and circular effects, and it can also be used to dust on glitter. Recommended for use with any type of powder, it features straight and wavy fibers.
I have a serious hate for fall out from eyeshadows. It always seems to fall right under my eye area and get packed in and stick to my foundation. Wiping it off with a tissue, q-tip or my fingers just seems to make it worse and I end up having to use makeup remover and re-apply concealer and/or foundation. So I was very curious how this brush would work. I chose the medium, but there are other types and sizes of the fan brushes to meet your exact need. I used loose eyeshadow powder and did have fall out. I used this to wipe away the shadow and found it got rid of about 80-90% of the loose shadow without it sticking to my face and causing darkness. This is definitely a much needed brush to a common problem many of us have!
The design of these brushes are so beautiful and they are hand crafted. I love the overall style, look and feel of the handles. Be sure to check out the website as they have 76 brushes available for each and every need! If I had to buy just one I would recommend #158 Double Ended Sculpting Brush as my favorite. Which brush do you just have to have? Comment and let me know!!

Hair Rehab: Simple Tips for Shiny, Silky Smooth Hair

With the change of the seasons, it's always a great idea to put a little extra effort and tlc into your locks. Ideally I wish I could pay this attention to my hair every 2 weeks or so, but in reality it tends to be much less. However, I'm always super happy and glad I did it when I see the results that I got. Keep reading for my simple tips on how to rehab your hair for the changing season!

1. Make a hair mask
I like blending the oils that I have with a favorite hair mask in order to achieve a thicker consistency. I used L'Occitane's Aromacholoige Repairing Mask which is a great stand alone mask, but also a supercharged mask when I pair it with my favorite oils. I blended this mask with Vitamin E oil which you can find at your drugstore, Jojoba oil which I purchased from Trader Joe's and my new favorite coconut oil, Skinny & Co.
Blend all products together and then leave this sit in your hair for 30 minutes to an hour. I usually wear a shower cap to avoid getting oil on anything, or you can wrap your head in plastic wrap if you don't have a shower cap. I also like to apply some heat with my blow dryer so the mask really penetrates my strands. After around an hour, I rinse this out with shampoo and add conditioner.

Follow me on instagram to see all my tips first!

2. Condition
Conditioning your hair is so essential to hair rehab and maintaining your hair's overall health and appearance. The conditioner I've been using daily is Organix Argan Oil & Shea butter. This leaves my locks feeling soft and my curls looking great and easy to manage. I also love the scent and have been complimented several times on it. You can find this product at Walgreen's and it retails around $7.

3. Styling Cream with Heat Protectant
The next step is to use a good styling cream. My recent favorite is Andre Walker's Get it Straight Styling Creme from the Gold Line. You want to make sure your styling cream has a heat protectant built in if you plan on using any heat. Andre Walker's Get it Straight is formulated with thermal protection and infused with African Mongongo Oil. It cuts down my drying time since it helps get my hair straight faster. If your styling cream does not have a heat protectant built in, you'll want to use one in addition.
4. Handle that frizz
If you've got seriously frizz prone hair like I do, you may want to end with adding a finishing touch. I highly recommend Color Wow's One Minute Transformation Styling Cream. You only need a very small amount of this product and after rubbing it together in your hands, just apply to your strands and watch the frizz be instantly smoothed. You can also apply heat to supercharge your results. I definitely noticed immediate results.

5. Add in volume
So now that your strands are perfectly smoothed and looking perfect and you've spent all that time on them, its time to mess them up a little bit and make your final result look like it was effortless! I ran my fingers through my hair, adjusted my part and massaged my fingers through the roots. I then applied some Organix Sea Salt spray to create instant volume and waves.

Spending this extra time on my hair today really did make me feel great and I love running my hands through my  now silky soft locks. I have naturally curly hair and when I straighten my hair I can usually get 2, possibly even 3 days out of that blow out with the proper dry shampoo and beach waves spray.

What is your favorite hair rehab tip? Comment and let me know, I'd love to hear from you!

Clean Eating in 10 minutes!

Here are two clean eating recipes that can both be done in under 10 minutes. They are both satisifying and pair well together as well. Hope you enjoy! If you end up making these, comment and let me know your thoughts or leave me a comment with your favorite clean eating recipe!

Turkey Pita Roll Up:

What you will need:
Pear
Pesto
Whole Wheat Pita Pockets
Nitrate free turkey (I use Hormel Naturals brand)
Fresh made mozzarella cheese

Add 2 turkey slices rolled up into the pita pocket, add in 1 slice of cheese and 1 pear slice at the bottom and 1 pear slice at the top with fresh mozzarella in the middle. Add some pesto paste inside the pocket after it has been baked or other seasoning as desired. I use 1 tablespoon or less of pesto paste.

Cook on 350 for 10 minutes

Lime Kale Smoothie

What you will need:
Lime
Kale
Parsley
Cilantro
Mint
Orange Juice or other juice
1 Apple
Cinnamon

Add in juice of 1/2 of a lime along with 1 cup of kale. Add in 5-6 mint leaves and a bunch of cilantro and parsley. Cut up one apple to put in blender and sprinkle cinnamon. I add in juice to give this a thinner consistency because I don't have a juicer at the moment. Blend until smooth and at a desired consistency. To keep it simple, I make this the night before and keep it in the blender in the fridge so its ready to go in the mornings! Enjoy!

Face Stockholm's Fall 2013 Line {Review}

FACE STOCKHOLM Fall 2013 Line

Bright and beautiful, our look for Fall 2013 welcomes the new season, while keeping the spirit of Summer alive!
Contains Press Samples

Clockwise from top left:
Lipstick Silk, BB Cream, Blush in London, Matte Shadow in Steel

(Above) Face Stockholm products I used to achieve this look.

One definite standout from this collection is the gorgeous red lipstick. It is very bright but is such a true classic red that I believe it is really wearable for a lot of women. It's definitely a sexy red that makes you feel great! A red like this is definitely a must have in any woman's collection. It goes on even and silky, has good staying power and is not drying. I also loved the color of the blush. It is a creme blush and there was actually more color payoff than I was expecting. It was easy to apply with my fingers or with a blush brush.

The BB cream I had to use a sponge applicator with in order to get any noticeable coverage. This product does not come with an applicator which makes it a little more tricky to figure out the best way to use it. I found that a setting powder was absolutely necessary with the BB cream as it left my skin looking a little oily. Once topped with powder it was fine. I'm also in love with the matte eye-shadow color in Steel. This is a gorgeous grayish lilac color. It worked beautifully to highlight my green eyes.

What do you think of Face Stockholm's Fall 2013 line? Comment below and let me know!

Urban Decay Fall Launches

Urban Decay is one of my all time favorite brands. Products I've recommended over and over include my favorite shimmery brown eyeliner, Underground, which I wear nearly daily, their All Nighter spray which has stood up to 90+ degree heat and a hot tub and Sin, a perfect everyday eye shadow. For fall, Urban Decay is not letting us down with some great new product releases.
Revolution Lipsticks ($22)

Urban Decay launches Revolution Lipstick, a classic, creamy formula you’ll love wearing—with the signature Urban Decay pigment-rich color you crave. This is rich, buttery lipstick at its best—intense pigment plus creamy shine. NOBODY has a formula like this. It’s thick and cushiony, not slippery and thin like a lot of lipsticks. And with 22 intensely pigmented, creamy shades ranging from gorgeous nudes to bold brights, there’s something for everyone.
Luxe gunmetal component with signature dark purple interior!
Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion ($24)
Urban Decay brings their legendary Primer Potion to a whole new level. Our anti-aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion not only locks shadow in place to give you vibrant, crease-free color that lasts all day; it also measurably improves the signs of aging over time.

We added high-tech ingredients that:
• Fight wrinkles.
• Improve tone and texture.
• Create a subtle, soft-focus effect.
• Instantly wake up tired eyes.
• Minimize the appearance of redness, crepiness and other imperfections.
B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray ($33)

This scientifically advanced formula contains the FIRST stabilized form of vitamin B6, which absorbs
oil, minimizes pores and reduces redness. Spritz it on any time of day to hydrate, prep and soften your skin with vitamins and antioxidants. Use it in the morning to prep and “wake up” your skin, during the day to refresh your skin (without messing up your makeup), or at night before your treatment. Versatile enough for people of all ages and skin types (MEN included!), this energizing formula is great for your skin AND it feels amazing. And the more you use it, the better the results!
Urban Decay Brow Box ($29)

Each set includes two shades of silky brow powder, perfecting/setting wax, high-quality metal mini tweezers (they really work!), two mini angled brushes and two mirrors (one of them magnifies so you won’t miss a single stray!). Blend both shades of brow powder together to create your perfect shade (for natural-looking results you could never achieve with a standard eyebrow pencil); then use the wax
to create a precise shape and keep hairs in place.

Incredibly precise, this brush even makes painting the outer corners of your nails easy. Get them while you can!

Available in two colors:
VICE – rich, deep purple with red and blue micro-shimmer
ADDICTION – smoky, metallic gunmetal with multidimensional, high-shine micro-sparkle

Don't these products all just look gorgeous? Which makes your must have list for fall?

Fall Allergies: My Natural Remedies & Solutions

Allergy remedies

For many, fall means pulling out your long sleeves and scarves, sipping on hot cider by a fire on a chilly night and watching the leaves change. For others, it is a time of pure misery with watery itchy eyes, running nose, sore throat, sinus pain and congestion and non-stop sneezing and stuffiness, just waiting and praying for that first frost to come. If you're an allergy sufferer, you know exactly what I mean. I have a severe allergy to weed, grass, trees, cats and other allergens. Here are my top natural remedies which keep me (semi) sane during this time of year.

1. Drink lots of water with lemon.

2. Eat a teaspoon of local honey per day. Look for a cloudier honey, or honey that is organic, raw and unfiltered to get the maximum health benefits.

3. Take bee pollen. You'll find this in the refrigerated section of your health food store or co-op. The best benefits will come from the most local source.

4. To reduce inflammation, make tea from ginger root. I cut up several pieces of ginger and boil it in a pot on the stove with honey and lemon slices and drink.

5. To reduce inflammation, cook with turmeric or add a teaspoon to a glass of water daily.

6. Use a neti pot to clear out your sinuses and release sinus pain. You can find this at any drugstore.

7. Eat 20 cherries per day for pain as an ibuprofen substitute.

8. Eat magnesium rich foods like pumpkin seeds for headaches.

9. Stay clear of GMO foods (genetic modified) that can be allergen inducing.

10. Use Bloom Organics Allergy and Sinus Relief liquid products in a glass of water 2-3 times per day.

11. Take a hot steamy shower.

12. Don't lay down. I know its hard when allergies have drained all the life from you, but try to sit up on the couch instead of laying down and prop your head up as much as you can while sleeping so your sinuses drain. You'll wake up much happier.

13. Ice your sinuses with an ice pack on your head and also at the nape of your neck.

14. Use lavender for headaches. I highly recommend Moon Valley Organics Rejuvenating Rub and Indie Lee Lavender Oil.

15. Get a massage or roll out your neck and shoulders with a foam roller. The back of my neck is a huge contributor to headaches and sinus issues. It's all connected in a weird and wonderful way. Getting a massage will help to clear you out and get things moving again, plus you'll feel amazing after!

I still take my regular anti-histamine, nasal spray and ibuprofen when absolutely necessary but I like to use these natural remedies first. You can also ask your doctor about a steriod shot to help with inflammation if you're a frequent sufferer of sinus pain and get a lot of sinus infections. I figure a steroid injection is better than three sinus infections in one season! This does not constitute medical advice. Always consult your doctor.

Comment and let me know what your favorite remedy, trick or solution is for allergies. I'd love to know if there's anything else that can help! Good luck, we'll make it through this season together!

Hair Favorites for Curls-Fall Edition

Hair Favorites

TIGI Curling Iron
I got my Tigi curling iron from TJ Maxx if I remember correctly. You can find a lot of great Tigi products there for less. One of my favorite tips for curly or wavy hair is to give your natural curl a little extra help with a curling iron. Some days I pick out just some pieces of hair and curl them perfectly with a curling iron. They blend in well with my natural curl and give my hair a much more polished look. To get the look I got today, I curled all of my hair with a 1 inch barrel curling iron, curling each small section for about 15 seconds.

Andre Walker's Get it Straight Styling Creme
About: Formulated with thermal protection, infused with African Mongongo Oil, go silky straight with heat, or naturally soft and curly, with Get It Straight.

Why I like it: I can blow dry my hair straight with this creme without it ending up a frizzy fluffy mess. When I use other straightening products on my very curly hair, I need much more than a blow dryer to get a finished sleek and straight look. This really cuts down the time I would use a straightener or curling iron. I use that step more as a finishing touch as opposed to an hour long process.

Organix Weightless Healing Oil
About: Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Weightless Healing Dry Oil is a blend of Moroccan argan oil spray that infuses hair with veil of shine, heals split ends, gives color and highlights a multifaceted glow and prevents static flyaways.

Why I like it: This is super lightweight as the name suggests. It has a very fine mist which I love. Other hair oil products in spray form sometimes have the problem of spraying too much in a concentrated area, leaving your hair looking greasy or oily. This product does not have that problem at all which is one of the reasons I love it. The other main reason is because it instantly smooths frizz. Even better, it retails around $6!

Ouidad Wave Create Sea Spray
About: A Sea Spray that gives hair that windswept, sexy and tousled look you love after a day at the beach

Why I like it: I've only recently began to try some products by Ouidad. In the past when I've tried products directed towards curly hair, I found them to be worse than product not targeted to curls. But I've loved every Ouidad product I've tried so far. This sea spray has a wonderful nozzle to ensure the right amount of product. This doesn't weigh your hair down and definitely enhances a wave or a curl. I also highly recommend the texture taffy for beachy waves.

What are your current favorite hair products? Comment and let me know!
