How to Make your Home More Inviting: My Top Three Tips

There is nothing like walking into a home and smelling a scent like cinnamon or lemons. It's so uplifting and inviting. You can easily get this at home with my natural remedies. I've got some homemade DIY suggestions for you that are all easy and affordable and are great tips for entertaining. Follow my top three tips below on how to make your home more inviting for your family and entertaining with my top three natural tips.

1. Fragrance Oil
You can find fragrance oils in many places like your grocery store, pharmacy and co-op. A few of my favorites are rose oil, lemon oil and lavender oil. You can put some oil on a toothpick and place over the flame of a candle to bring out the scent. You can also just mix this with water as a spray or add a few drops to a bath or make your own perfume. This is also a great base for a diy gift, especially with upcoming holidays. I just purchased a lemon oil for around $6 and just a couple drops go a long way.

2. Cinnamon
Simply sprinkle cinnamon in a bowl with water and microwave for a minute or so until it is steaming. Take the dish out and place on the stove. Your home will smell like freshly baked cookies with cinnamon and this scent lasts for hours, can be done in just minutes and is cheap! You can buy a whole bottle of cinnamon for around $2. You can also do this with cinnamon sticks. Throughout the day then I just reheat the cinnamon water to refresh the scent. This is a great tip for entertaining as you can pop this in right before guest arrive.
Tip: Try mixing a few drops of the lemon oil with the cinnamon!
3. Lemon Peels
I use lemons constantly to cook and I always breathe in the invigorating scent of the lemon. I also don't want to waste the peel and sometimes zest it for cooking or use it for cleaning. After I've used a lemon peel or cut off the end, I use this to wipe off the counter. This has great cleaning properties. After I do that, I then put the peel in the garbage disposal to disinfect. The scent of lemons will fill your kitchen, making you want to be there more and making you feel great in return!

Follow any of these three tips and your house will immediately be transformed into a welcoming home. Do you have any tips of your own? Comment and let me know.
