Celebrity Looks from the Met Gala

The theme at the Met Gala this year was "Punk: Chaos to Couture" ,which gave celebrities free reign to rock some wild and exciting looks. Here are some of my favorites from the night as well as information on how they got their punk looks!

GISELE BUNDCHEN
Taking inspiration from 70s muse and supermodel Jerry Hall, John Frieda International Creative Consultant gave supermodel Gisele Bundchen messy, rocker-chic waves for Monday night’s Met Gala in New York City. A perfect complement to her barely-there, chain-adorned mini, Gisele’s sexy, rebellious hair totally fit the punk theme of this year’s ball. Below please find the steps to recreate her look, using products from John Frieda.

Step 1 – Prep

· To prep hair, Harry applied John Frieda Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Styling Mousse ($5.99 at drugstores) to add texture. He then blowdried hair with his fingers to dry hair, but ensure it had a messy feel.

Step 2 – Style

· Next, Harry applied a 1 ½ inch curling iron to small sections, then brushed through the curls to loosen them into relaxed waves.

Step 3 – Perfect

· To finish the look, Harry gave Gisele a severe side part, then spritzed John Frieda Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray ($5.99 at drugstores) to hold the sexy, undone style

 JESSICA ALBA
Avon Global Celebrity Makeup Artist Lauren Andersen was inspired by the intricate silver detailing on Jessica Alba’s stunning Tory Burch gown, and complemented the glamorous frock by giving Alba a sultry smoky eye while keeping the rest of her makeup soft and romantic.

See below for products Andersen used to get Jessica’s look:
  • Face: YSL Foundation, Avon Ideal Luminous Blush in Earthen Rose
  • Eyes: Jolen Cream Bleach for Eyebrows, Bobbi Brown Metallic Long Wear Cream Shadow in Chrome Patina, Avon Mega Impact Eyeliner in Grey Slate, Avon Super Extend Infinitize Mascara
  • Lips: Avon Totally Kissable Lipstick in Natural Glow
  • Body: Charlotte Ronson Body Makeup
MINDY KALING

Mindy Kaling’s Lela Rose dress and the Met Gala’s punk theme inspired Avon Global Celebrity Makeup Artist Lauren Andersen to give Mindy an bold, edgy purple lip. Andersen kept the rest of Mindy’s makeup subtle and soft to maintain the balance of the overall look and the focus on Kaling’s pout.

A breakdown of the products used to get Kaling’s look below:
  • Face: Avon Ideal Flawless Foundation, MAC Powder Blush in Blunt
  • Eyes: Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow - Mirifique No. 85, Avon Glimmersticks Eyeliner in Blackest Black, Shu Uemura Eye Lashes, Avon Super Extend Infinitize Mascara and Votre Vu Brow Definer
  • Lip: Avon Totally Kissable Lipstick in Deep Orchid
STACY KEIBLER
Inspired by the stunning style and punk rock glam of Stacy Keibler’s dress, hair stylist Luke Chamberlain gave Keibler effortlessly chic, second - day waves.

Step 1 – Prep
· Luke applied John Frieda Luxurious Volume Root Booster ($5.99 at drugstores) to Stacy’s wet hair and scrunched her hair in his hands while he blowdried. “We wanted to keep as much of her natural texture as possible, ” Luke explains.Step 2 – Style
· Next, Luke used a curling iron with a 1 ¼ inch barrel to put slight bends in her hair to keep it looking natural.

Step 3 – Perfect
· Luke finished off the look by spritzing John Frieda’s Sheer Blonde Crystal Clear Shape & Shimmer Hairspray ($5.99 at drugstores) while Stacy’s hair was flipped upside down. This gave her hair added volume and that sexy tousled look they were going for.

DAKOTA FANNING

Hair stylist Giannandrea chose to give Dakota Fanning a sleek and sophisticated style to complement her sheer black dress.

Step 1 – Prep
· Giannandrea applied John Frieda Luxurious Volume Root Booster ($5.99 at drugstores) to Dakota’s crown and blasted with a blow dryer to create lift.

Step 2 – Style
· Giannandrea kept most of the left side of Dakota’s hair naturally straight while he twisted a portion of the right side of her hair downward behind her ear along her hairline and secured with bobby pins.

Step 3 – Perfect
· To finish, Giannandrea sprayed John Frieda Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray ($5.99 at drugstores) to hold.

ELLE FANNING

Hair stylist Giannandrea gave the 15-year-old actress a romantic and wispy hairdo to offset her bold dress and makeup.

Step 1 – Prep
· Giannandrea applied John Frieda Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Styling Mousse ($5.99 at drugstores) to Elle’s roots to give the curl in her hair a natural boost while adding texture.

Step 2 – Style
· After sectioning off the hair, Giannandrea wrapped each section around a 1 ½ inch curling iron and then carefully brushed out. Giannandrea then twisted and braided the top section of Elle’s hair and secured with pins at the crown for a half-up half-down style.

Step 3 – Perfect
· To finish off the look, Giannandrea sprayed John Frieda Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray ($5.99 at drugstores) , making sure to ruffle the styled crown with his fingers so that a few strands would come loose for a casual and angelic finish.
Jessica Paré
Who is your favorite look of the night? I think mine would have to be Jessica Alba, she looks stunning as always, but I was especially impressed with how gorgeous she looked that night!
