Grammy Awards Hair & Makeup: Katy Perry

Katy Perry at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards

I'm sure by now even if you weren't watching the Grammy Awards 2013, you've seen Katy Perry's captivating look, inspired by old Hollywood hair and makeup. I've got the inside scoop on which products were used to create this glamorous look and how you can achieve it yourself. I will also shortly be bringing you some more in-depth information the Rimmel products used and try to re-create this look on my own!

Katy Perry's voluminous hairstyle was created for her by Renato Campora using products from KMS® California hair care and an old Hollywood-inspired makeup look created for her by makeup artist Jake Bailey using products from Rimmel London.

How to get Katy's hair look:
*For Katy’s look, Renato was inspired by a 50s pin-up glam girl, with shiny, voluminous hair. To get her look, Renato first applied KMS California ADDVOLUME® styling foam to wet hair. Then, he blew it out using a large round brush to create volume.

*Next, Renato parted her hair down the middle and applied KMS California FREESHAPE® hot flex spray to ensure the style would last all night. Then, he used a 1 ½ inch curling iron to smooth the hair and create texture.

*To seal the look, Renato added a drop of KMS California SILKSHEEN® polishing serum. Renato really brought the pin-up girl to life with Katy’s gorgeous, shiny hair, spraying it with KMS California HAIRPLAY® dry touch-up for instant, weightless surface conditioning. KMS® California hair care is available at salons nationwide.

How to get Katy's makeup look:
1. Makeup artist Bailey defined Perry’s lash line with Rimmel London ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in black. Bailey then used Rimmel London’s Glam’Eyes Eyeshadow Trio in “Orion” to contour Perry’s eyes. Bailey highlighted Katy’s eyelid and brow bone with Rimmel London’s ScandalEyes Shadow Stick in “Bulletproof Beige,” and finished the eyes with a rich coat of Rimmel London’s ScandalEyes Mascara in Black.

2. Makeup artist Bailey perfected Perry’s skin by mixing 1/3 Rimmel London BB Cream in Light with 2/3 Match Perfection Foundation in Nude to create a base. “The BB Cream sheers the foundation out and gives it a little glow,” said Bailey. Bailey then warmed Perry’s complexion with a dusting of Rimmel London’s Lasting Finish Soft Colour Mono Blush in “Pink Rose” on the apples of Perry’s cheeks.

3. Bailey completed the look by lining Perry’s lips with Rimmel London Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Lipliner in Natural, and applying a coat of Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in “Crush.”

What did you think of Katy's look? Did she make your Grammys best dressed list or Grammsy worst dressed list or neither? I loved her hair, makeup and the silhouette & jewels on the dress, I just wish it had been in a more vibrant color. I also love that she gave a shout out to her eyelash line from Eylure. Check out my review of the color pop lashes here.

Yours In Trubeauty,

Jessica
