New Maybelline Color Tattoo Review & Swatches

Maybelline Color Tattoo
Maybelline has come out with yet again more colors for their cream shadow line. I've really loved the ones I own, which are swatched below so I knew I had to pick up a couple more!

Here are the colors I chose:
65 Gold Rush, 55 Inked in Pink
65 Gold Rush, 55 Inked in Pink
I knew this pink color would be similar to a couple pinks I already own and wear quite frequently. I still was drawn to purchase it, but I was most excited for this gold color. I was actually quite disappointed with it. Unlike the other gold color in this line, this one applied less evenly and was super glittery.
The gold swatched great, but on it was a glittery mess. This one actually is bad enough for me to take back to the store. Quite the disappointment. If you are looking for a great gold, I highly recommend checking out the 45 Bold Gold instead.

L to R: Gold Rush, Bold Gold, Inked in Pink, Tenacious Teal, Pomegranate Punk
I use to also own the purple color called "Painted purple" which was a total dud and unlike the formulation of the others, kind of like the Gold Rush one. I took it back to the store for a refund.
Maybelline New York color tattoo in barely branded (top) compared to Urban Decay Cosmetics bootycall. Maybelline color makes a great base for longer lasting crease free application and is a near dupe for much a cheaper price. The maybelline one has more shimmer but the colors are extremely similiar. I actually think Barely branded is prettier.
And I found a near perfect dupe for a $23 eyeshadow!
Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream Shadow Shade #16, Maybelline Inked in Pink
L to R: Mufe #16 v. Maybelline Inked in Pink

There are some differences in these shadows. The Mufe is first of all is $16 more expensive. It also is slightly more pigmented and has more of a shimmery sheen to it. The formulation of the Mufe is more of a lightweight cream shadow, almost an air whipped sort of feel. This makes it super easy to apply and it is incredibly long wearing. One swipe would be enough with mufe, whereas with maybelline you may want to add two swipes. You can add another layer of mufe for a more dramatic look. Just don't add too much or it will start to look cakey.  If you are just looking for a good quality shadow in this color, you may want to just save yourself the money.

Has anyone else tried the color tattoos? Which is your favorite color.

Yours in Trubeauty,

Jessica
