Spotted: New L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadows

Spotted: New L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadows
(Pic Heavy)

Over the last couple of weeks, I've spotted some new L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadows (among some new lipsticks and 2 new BB creams!) and I picked up a couple today as they were on sale 2 for $12, plus there was a $1 in-store coupon and I had $1 in Walgreens cash, so I paid $5 each. I haven't seen these at every Walgreens, only a couple. Normal retail is around $7.99. I have blogged about these many times before and am very happy to see some new vibrant colors. These are basically a mix between a cream and a loose pigment. They are super long lasting and decently crease resistant (I have noticed some creasing in the over 90 degree hot muggy weather here).

What are your thoughts? Have you picked up any of the new shades?

Review: Kate Somerville Clinic-to-go Resurfacing Peel Pads

We recently had the lucky opportunity to test out the Kate Somerville Clinic-to-go Resurfacing Peel Pads which are a super neat product. Justina and myself split the pack, so my review is based on my 2 week trial of these pads. A four week experience is ideal when trying these.

Even though I basically used 1/2 of the product, I would definitely agree with the above results. I love the packaging of this and the individual uses. The applicator is wet and has a nice scent to it. You apply the clear liquid onto your skin, allow it stay on for around 2 minutes and rinse off.

Here were the results I saw

Apothederm vs Strivectin Stretch Mark Creams

I've been on a mission to find the perfect stretch mark cream.  For me, it seems I can tell right away if a cream or oil will work for me.  It needs to sink in and absorb quickly and be extra emollient.  There is not currently anything on the market that has been proven to get rid of stretch marks, but the use of a stretch mark product could prevent more from happening or moisturize and nourish the ones you have, so they are less obvious.

I had a sample bottle of two different stretch mark creams that I received- Apothederm came in my Sircle Samples, and Strivectin was in a Test Tube from QVC.

I was not overly impressed with this product.  It didn't have much of a smell, so that was a plus.  When I applied it, I felt like it was just sitting on top of my skin.  It really didn't seem to do much for me.  It felt like I was applying a regular lotion to my skin, when my stretch marks needed much more TLC!

This one was pretty nice.  It was a little thicker and sunk in right away.  It had a slight minty like tingle. It felt really good going on, and I could feel it on my skin keeping it firm and tight for a few minutes after applications.  Not sure what a large bottle of this retails at, but I'd be likely to purchase this in the future if I needed a stretch mark cream and it was on sale.  Winning!

What's your favorite stretch mark product?  They seem unavoidable, whether you're pregnant, recently gained a pound or two, if you're losing weight, or growing.  I've personally had a few of them all my life from a growth spurt as a kid.  I am on a journey to find my favorite stretch mark product, so share with me in the comments if you have one you know works well!

My Naturally Glowing Look With Laura Geller Products!

Hello Beauties,

Jessica and I recently had the opportunity to try out some Laura Geller products.  We both purchased the Laura Geller Glow-n-Behold 4-piece Collection on QVC (I purchased in Regular/Tan) and we were sent her Spackle primer and eyebrow sculpting marker to test out as well.  Jessica wrote a little more about the brow sculpting marker here, we've included her Bronze-n-Brighten product in a May favorites post, and I've raved about her body bronzer in a Friday Favorites post here.  In other words, she has pretty impressive products and we are fans!

I want to show you the before and after of the fun look I created today and tell you how it was accomplished, as well as review all the products!

Before- No Makeup!

After moisturizing, I jumped right in to create a makeup look.  I wanted to create something glowing, natural, and versatile.  I had errands to run today but I wanted my look to easily take me from day to night easily.  To start out, I need flawless skin!  So I mixed my favorite foundation with one pump of Spackle Tinted Under Makeup Up Primer in Champagne. (2 oz for $25)
This product promises to help the skin retain moisture, feel softer, and look smoother, all while being lightweight and suitable for all skin types.  It shimmers with a champagne glow and contains natural plant extracts and anti-oxidants.  I love the controlled pump top that ensures I don't waste my money by pumping out too much.  A pump gives me the perfect amount of primer to start my makeup look off right.  I really enjoy using this product as it gives me glow and makes my skin a perfect canvas for my makeup.
Next, I took a big fluffy brush and applied Bronze-n-Brighten in the regular/medium shade.
The key to using this product is to apply just a light dusting at first with your brush and if you need more coverage, keep applying.  Sometimes with powders, I find myself really caking the brush with powder and going to town on my face with it but that will only make your complexion murky with this product.  A little goes a long ways and since there's some bronzer in there too you will want to make sure you get your jaw line going down your neck really well so you don't end up with splotches and streaks.  Don't be THAT girl!  This gives a beautiful sun kissed look to your skin without any orange or unnatural color.
I pulled out my Dream Creams Concealer and Highlighter Palette (link is from Glow-n-Behold since this is not on her website) and got to work covering up undereye circles and any little blemishes that were still showing.
I have the Regular/Tan color which could work for people of my skin shade this time of year all the way to really dark skin.  I used the lightest shade with my ring finger to cover up any spots.  I also used it on my eyelids to even out the skin tone there!  The bronzey colored highlighter on the edge of the palette worked beautifully to accentuate my cupid's bow, my inner eye corners, brow bone, and cheekbones.  I also used the darker shades on the sides of my nose to give it a sleeker, contoured look.  I look forward to mixing the concealer colors in the palette together as my skin gets more color.  I love that you can create your own perfect shade with this palette!
My Tahitian Baked Body Frosting in Tahitian Glow was next on the list.  I used this with the puff in a light dusting all over my face.  I applied a little extra in the hollows of my cheeks to contour them, and made sure to get my neck and decolette area.  Also, I concentrated a little more color towards my hairline to make it look more natural.
This bronzer is fantastic!  I have the marbeled shade which is called Tahitian Glow.  It gives such a beautiful glow and can be used on the face and body.  You can get .85 oz of this for $45 which is actually an enormous amount of product for that price, and if you get it in a set on QVC you can pay a little more and get a ton more products with it!
My Bora-Bora baked blush is a lovely pearlescent pink and I swirled a touch of this on the apples of my cheeks.
This shade is exclusive to QVC until 8/4/12 so I'm glad I got the chance to pick it up before then.  It is the perfect, natural, summer shade and it goes with every makeup look!  I love its versatility and it's such a summery color!
At this point, I thought about being done, because my face was perfectly bronzed and looked great, but I thought, hey, I have 2 more products that would really give me the finishing touch and polish off my look!  So I kept going....

I have the Brow Marker Long Lasting Brow Color in Taupe and I applied this shade to my brows in light strokes.
With this brow marker, I can honestly say I've found my perfect brow product.  There are 3 tips to the top of the applicator and it really lends itself to a natural looking brow.  The color isn't stark, and taupe is plenty dark enough for my brow area.  It dries very quickly and lasts all day.  It really helps me to fill in the sparse areas of my brows!  It's very easy to go 3 tips wide for an easy and quick fill in of the brows or when I need to go down to one tip that works well too.
Lastly, I finished my look off with a swipe of Caribbean Kiss lip color, exclusive to QVC until 8/4/12.
This is the ultimate lip shade because each side is a different color!  One side is a nude petal pink, and the other is a glazed butter caramel.  They look beautiful individually, or layered.  The texture of this lipstick is bar none- it is so smooth and silky without being heavy or thick on the lips.  After eating 2 meals and drinking from a water bottle then a glass, I am still wearing the shade.  It has slightly faded, but the texture is still smooth and soft and I could get away without reapplying if it I want!  When I take it off, it comes off completely, unlike a stain where you would need to scrub it off.  A lipcolor that stays and stays, but is easily removed when you want it gone?  Yes please!!

Here is my beautiful glowing day look, and it only took about 8 minutes!  I mentioned that I wanted a look that would take me easily from day to night, so as a bonus I will tell you how I made that happen with this look!  (No pictures unfortunately, I started feeling fever-y tonight so I didn't want to take a pic with my red eyes and sniffly nose.)

I wore big rhinestone hoop earrings with my look today because I think they look ultra chic for day and glam for night.  And who doesn't need a little extra bling bling?  For day I had kept my hair down in natural waves, so for night I wanted to amp it up by adding a few curls and a little hairspray.

For night, I simply touched up my lipgloss and added a bold eye.  I didn't even need to touch up my face makeup, because with the use of my Spackle Primer, everything really stayed put!  For my bold eye, I used a bright pink eyeshadow, paired with a deeper smoky purple in the crease.  I applied a deep bronze eyeliner on the top lashline and bottom lashline, and used a mascara for some added definition.

I love using my Laura Geller products.  Do you own anything from her company? What do you think?

Yours in Beauty,
Justina

Here is Jessica's look using mostly Laura Geller Products:

1. Over my foundation (Estee Lauder Invisible Light), I applied with a kabuki brush the Laura Geller Bronze-n-brighten lightly all over my face
2. I then applied the Laura Geller Powder Foundation lightly all over just to make sure everything was perfectly evened out
3. I used the Laura Geller brown pen to shape and fill in my brows **love love this**
4. I used the Laura Geller Tahitian Body Frosting on my arms, legs, and lightly on my chest area
5. Blush is Laura Geller Bora Bora
6. Eyeliner is Urban Decay Crash with Urban Decay YDK on the lid, black liquid liner on the top lash line & mascara
7. Lipstick is Laura Geller Carribean Kiss

Updated: {Trending} Rose Gold Highlights

One of the great new trends is Rose Gold highlights. I had noticed more and more intstances of pink in hair which I actually really love, but would never be able to wear for work. I was inspired to try some Rose Gold strands when I came across an article in Glamour magazine and Lauren Conrad/The Beauty Department highlighting this look.

Here were the pictures I based my look off of:

 The result:

With flash & indoor lighting

Outdoor light

I made it very clear to my stylist "No pink!" Although its a trend I would love to rock, I wouldn't be able to wear it in my work place. Instead, I went for a soft pale rose gold look. My stylist first added golden blonde highlights and then toned some of them with a mixture of red/pink/golden colored dyes. I wanted a subtle look with small highlighted strands.

Now that I feel confident with this look, I may go a little more extreme and put a few more vibrant rosy tones in next time in a few strands.

UPDATED: Here was my next hairstyle. I loved the rose gold, but I always like to change my hair around, so I went for a slightly different look with a soft ombre style.

What do you think of this trend? Would you try it?

Simple Exfoliating Facial Wipes

Hey ladies!  I wanted to share with you a product that I was sent that I was super excited to try.  They are exfoliating facial wipes by the company Simple.    I reviewed their refreshing gel cleanser here if you want to take a look at another product by this fab company.  I chose to review these on a day I was wearing a ton of makeup.  Let's see how they work

My first thought when I opened this package was that they must be dried out.  They were not very wet at all which was surprising to me.  They had kind of a waffle weave pattern built into the wipe, which is what makes it an exfoliator.  The lack of wetness made me think that maybe I was supposed to get this wet in the sink to use it, but that is not so.  The upside to this is you won't be left with a super slick face and needing a towel afterwards to dry off.

They retail at about $5 for a resealable pack of 25 wipes.  They are unscented, hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic, safe for contacts wearers, and free of dyes and perfumes.  So in other words, they are great for your skin!

Before

When I put this on my skin, I did have to rub pretty hard but the makeup came up out of my skin magically.  It worked great getting off lipstick and eye makeup too!  I had some mascara residue left on my eyes afterwards, but I've honestly never confronted a makeup wipe that will take off mascara, so this wasn't much of a downer- I expected it.  I was left with a very clean face after!

After

I decided to tone my face afterwards to see how much dirt and grime was left and surprisingly there was very little still on my skin after using the makeup wipe.  I wouldn't use these on a regular nightly basis for makeup removal, but if I am camping or over night somewhere, or even in my car needing a clean face, these would do the job, and do it well!

Jessica's Review: I really liked this product and think it is fine for everyday use. My favorite qualities of this product was that it got my skin super clean without leaving it feeling dry, it was non irritating, and it literally has no scent. I actually prefer the other Simple facial towelettes which are a little bit softer, called the Cleansing Wipes. These also have a slightly exfoliating feeling and get my skin super clean. Although I like both products, the Cleansing Wipes are my go to right now and they get a high approval rating from me!
Find more information here: http://www.simple.co.uk/products/Kind-To-Skin-Cleansing-Facial-Wipes-25-wipes-66.aspx (25 count, $5.99)

What makeup remover wipes do you recommend?  Have you tried Simple brand?

Streekers- Hot Colors For Cool Hair

I'm lovin' summer and highlights, laying out on the beach, giant Jackie O sunglasses, and bright colored sundresses.  But sometimes, I just want to add a little something different and fun to my effortless summer routine, like a pop of color to my hair!  That's where Streekers come into play!

Streekers in a temporary hair color and it comes in bright, pigmented colors.  Rather than coming in your average package with a mascara, crayon, or paint on applicator, it comes in a sponge tip design.  It can be used over mousse, styling gel, or wax, and followed by hair spray.  You can brush your hair after application if you so desire, and the color will remain without flaking.  Streekers are very vivid on blonde hair and show up as subtle highlights on darker hair.

I was sent a green and a red to try.  These were super fun to paint on, and I focused on my highlights to get the most vibrance possible out of these shades.

This truly did leave my hair feeling soft and non-crunchy like I thought it would.  It was super fun to try and worked great.  My advice to you when trying temporary hair color is to wear a dark or patterned top and steer clear on rainy days.  I didn't have any issues with the color bleeding on this color but I'm the kind of person who is bound to wear a white shirt and temporary dye on a day that it rains outside, leaving a sloppy mess.  It's just smart, ya know?

When it came time to shower off, the color came out easily with shampoo.  I did shampoo twice rather than my standard one time, and condition once and didn't notice any issues.  I don't know if that second shampoo was necessary, but I don't keep a mirror in my shower so I couldn't tell if there was any color still sticking to my hair.

This is a super fun product to try!  If I got to choose my color I would do purple or hot pink next!  For $11.95 you get a little bottle but it should last quite a while if you're just doing the tips of your hair or a few streaks every so often.

I was not paid for this review, and the opinions reflected here are my own.

Even MORE ideas-

Revlon Balm Stain: UPDATED

Ladies!  This is the product I've been waiting for- I love my Clinique Chubby Sticks (keep your eyes out for an updated review of these tomorrow) and my Tarte Lipsurgence, but I have been waiting to get my hands on one of the Revlon Balm Stains!  They run around $9-10 depending on where you shop.  I picked mine up at Walgreens and tried the shade Lovesick.
Lovesick:

Here is a picture of this product on my lips RIGHT after applying it.  The crayon-like applicator reminds me exactly of a Tarte Lipsurgence or a Clinique Chubby Stick.  It has the same minty fresh tingle that the Lipsurgence has, and it was a pleasant surprise that I wasn't expecting.

I'll admit, I HAD to know what this looked like once it was just a stain and the gloss had worn of.....so I blotted it off rather than waiting just to see!  I think it maintained its color beautifully, and after a few hours of wear and a long sweaty walk, I was pleased that it didn't fade and leave me that gross ring around my mouth that you sometimes get with a stain- you know, where the product comes off in patches on your lips but stays just on the edges?  Yuck.  Well, it didn't do that, so score!
Sweetheart:

Smitten:

(the packaging makes it look much darker than it is)

Update: 5 hours later including dinner & a nap and the stain is still there & looking great!

Honey:

Romantic:

Here's what I think:

I love the colors it comes in and there are a glorious 12 to choose from.  I love the minty tingle that reminds me of its expensive counterpart, and I love the pricetag.  Personally, I don't necessarily want or need a color stain on my lips all day.  I kind of like that the Lipsurgence and the Chubby Sticks fade over time.  It's all a matter of personal preference.

Revlon Balm Stains are $10, minty tingle, long lasting staying power.

Tarte Lipsurgence are $24, minty tingle, many different formulas to choose from- matte, sheer, and highly pigmented shades.

Clinique Chubby Sticks are $16, many shades to choose from, sheer buildable color that allows you to reapply at will and change up your look during the day.

I love all the different formulas, but Clinique is probably my favorite lately since they apply sheer and they are a reasonable price within my budget.  What I love to do is take my Balm Stain in Lovesick, and once it fades, apply a Chubby Stick over top for a little extra moisture and added shine without having to look in the mirror.  For me, lazy application is key for summer.  I have to look in the mirror and really focus to get it right, forget it!

I really do love this formula, and there are so many out there that are similar lately.  What's your favorite summer lip product?

Yours in Beauty,
Justina
