Not Your Mothers {Reviews}

Okay, so this is pretty much an awesome brand and its super affordable. I love the packaging which gives this product both a high end look and feel. I will reviewing the three products below. You can check out the company here: http://www.nymbrands.com/ and you can purchase them at CVS, Walmart, ULTA; some regional retailers like Shopko and HEB; and online retailers like drugstore.com.

Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo, $6
Company Description: The ultimate quick fix to get that perfect hair and not waste precious time in the bathroom. Instant results, absorbs excess oils, cleans without water, lite matte finish. Spray on roots and throughout hair. Brush through to diffuse powder and watch it absorb any excess oils.

My thoughts: So I didn't really even know what dry shampoo was until I met the lovely and wonderful Justina who opened my eyes to a whole new world or products! :) This basically makes your hair last an extra day or two...or three! I love this product especially since when I do straighten my hair, I want that time and effort to last a few days, which also minimizes the amount of heat I'm applying to my hair on a daily basis. I thought this was a really exceptional dry shampoo product. It was easy to use and didn't leave any white residue like others. I really did instantlly notice my hair felt softer and looked much better. And at $6, you just can't beat it, especially for the huge size of this bottle! This also won a Bella Sugar Beauty Award in 2012.

Knotty to Nice Conditioning Detangler, $6
Company Description: Conditioning formula will moisturize your hair and separate sticky locks leaving your hair smooth and pain free brushing. Infused with Brazillian Keratin.

My thoughts: This is my favorite product of the three that I tried. First off it smells amazing! It smells kind of like cinnamon or a spiced rum. This normally isn't a scent I would associate with hair products, but its absolutely delightful and perfect for fall! I've used this on both dry and wet hair and it works get either way. I have naturally very curly hair and so it is prone to lots of tangles and matting! This definitely makes it easier to comb through and is a great pick me up when my hair is wet. It instantly leaves my hair softer and more manageable. And its $6!!!! Unbeatable!

Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream, $6
Company Description: Helps encourage natural curls by giving them that extra oomph they so desperately needs. Eliminates frizz and flyaways to show your true locks. Infused with Grape Seed & Jasmine.

My thoughts: This smells like grapes...ummm..yum! I would say this worked well with my curls and they were soft and shaped nicely. This was a lightweight cream that did not leave my hair feeling weighed down or too product-y (is that a word?) :) I didn't notice too much of a difference from other products I use which is a great thing since this is way more affordable.

Check out their Youtube Channel, they have great short videos showing you how to best use these products!
