My thoughts:
  • Cleansing Elixir: smells like olive oil and says it is olive oil based. If you're like me, you like to read every label and ingredient in the shower and although I clearly see olive oil as an ingredient in the conditioner, I didn't see it listed as an ingredient in the shampoo on the bottle.
    • Does not lather AT ALL. This is typical of sulfate free products; however, the lather to this product is literally none at all. Sulfates are the ingredients that make your shampoos suds up, but they can also strip your hair of essential oils.
    • I've definitely used a lot of products that are infused with oils, but I don't think I've ever used a shampoo or hair product that basically is an oil, and that is basically the texture scent and look of this product. I used this after being in a chlorine filled water park, so it must work if it can make my hair look good after that trauma!
  • The Conditioner: This smells like vanilla and shea butter. It is a very thick product. I loved the texture and scent of this.
    • Fantastic ingredients
    • I honestly was worried while showering. I like using conditioners that result in making my hair feel silky and tangle free while in the shower. This product however made my hair feel stringy while in the shower. I told myself not to freak out and see how it would dry.
    • The dried just great!!! I left this in my hair after using it as I would a traditional conditioner. The only other product that I used was some hairspray.
    • I love dual use products like this that function as both a leave in cream/styling cream and/or a conditioner.
    • My hair ended up drying so nicely and felt incredibly soft and my curls were shaped really perfect. No friziness or additional frizz/shine/smoothing products were needed. Minimal work and products for curly hair is a major win!
    • The next morning, I wet down my hair, crunched with my fingers, and I was good to go for the day.
    • The only thing I would caution would be using too much of this as a leave in product. My roots have grown out a bit right now and so I think it was amplified with darker roots, but I felt although my hair looked shiny there was a very slight greasy look to it  at the roots (although it didn't feel greasy). I do have a tendency to overuse products though.

Overall: If you have curly hair like me, you know how hard it is to find products that really work for your hair and that are at a moderate price range. The winner for me was conditioner/leave in product used as a leave in product. My personal preference is to use shampoos that lather more than this product and I like my hair to feel silky after using conditioner while in the shower. Those are just my personal opinions and each product works different for each person depending on their hair type.

Anyone else tried this product? Thoughts? Does this sound like something that will work for your kinky, curly, wavy, or relaxed hair?

Yours in Beauty,
