Onesta Hair Care Review

Onesta Hair Care Review

I first learned about this brand when I switched hair salons. I love my new salon not only because my stylist is awesome, but also because they use only this hair care line. I can't say enough good things about this brand. Onesta line is free of harmful chemicals, it is natural, plant-based, free of parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, propylene glycol, DEA, TEA, colors, dyes, animal testing, and animal ingredients. And it is based in the Twin Cities, MN area, where I use to live! Check their website to find a salon near you that carries these amazing products!

I used the following products today: Hydrating Shampoo, Super Conditioner, Smooth & Shine Thermal Straightening Creme, Quench Leave in Conditioner, and the Create "Finish" Aerosol. I used more products than normal but I wanted to test out as many as possible as I was so excited. Every time I leave the salon, my hair feels so soft and healthy, even though I just had it color treated. These products are safe for color treated hair and it appears to me that my colors are more vibrant after use.

10% of their net income is donated to cancer research. Check their website for more information, but basically there are concerns and increasing research and studies linking a lot of common hair, skin, and makeup ingredients to cancers/environmental causes. Just think about what you are putting in your hair and skin and how these chemicals can then be absorbed into your system.

For example, some common haircare ingredients are also used in car washes, garage floor cleaners, engine degreasers, perservatives, removing barnacles from boats, ingredient in industrial antifreeze, and dyes derived from coal tar.

They believe in sustainable manufacturing and their press product information is also printed from "responsible sources" which appears to be a mix of recycled materials. Cruelty free and vegan.Their website contains a ton of product information, information about the ingredients they use and information about the ingredients they don't and why they may be harmful.

Company Product Descriptions:
Hydrating Shampoo contains certified organic extracts of Honey, Sage, and White Willow. These moisture-rich extracts are known for their ability to repair and revitalize dry, damaged hair.

Super Conditioner nourishes dry, damaged hair with certified organic extracts of Aloe Vera, Nettle, and Thyme. These extracts work together to repair and moisturize dry, damaged hair without weighing it down. Sunflower Seed Oil provides shine and extra conditioning. Enriched with soy protein to strengthen hair and panthenol to hydrate, this intense moisturizing treatment helps repair damage to the cortex, seals the cuticle, and locks in moisture. With our Super Conditioner, your hair will have intense body and shine.

Smooth & Shine Thermal Straightening Crème provides a smooth, soft feel to the hair, delivers optimal shine, and tames frizz for use with heat styling. With a natural polymer that provides improved humidity resistance, Smooth & Shine also improves flexibility and manageability. Certified organic extracts of Green Tea and Milk Thistle, both rich in antioxidants, protect hair and add shine, while Rhatany Root helps reduce color fading by absorbing UV light.
Create "Finish" Aerosol What makes Onesta’s Create “Finish” a green product? Our can is made with 30% post consumer steel and is 100% recyclable. And, we use a 100% natural fragrance. Most aerosols on the market today use synthetic fragrances, which can be comprised of up to 200 individual chemicals to make one perfume, including trace amounts of formaldehyde. One of the biggest health concerns with aerosols is inhaling the small molecules of synthetic fragrance. Thus, our natural fragrance makes this aerosol safe for hairdressers and clients alike. Create “Finish” is the safer alternative with great performance. Provides volume, flexibility, and long-lasting hold. Humidity-resistant.

My hair is naturally curly. When I am going to straighten my hair, I use a big flat brush to brush it gently while it is drying to make it easier to flat iron. I'm not a big fan of blow drying my hair (plus my blow dryer just litterally started smoking, so I am without one right now). What I really noticed was different about these products from others is that my hair as it was drying, before I applied any heat or put in any effort to style, it was drying perfectly, looking soft, smooth, and shiny. Usually at this point, my hair would be straight(er), but would be a fluffy frizz ball until I could get to the flat ironing part.

Another great thing about these products is the scent. A lot of the products have a light citrus scent, which is probably my favorite product scent of all times. I'm absolutely in love with these products. My hair feels so healthy, silky, shiny, and the color looks so vibrant.

What do you think? Have you tried this brand?

Yours in Beauty,
