Garden Botanika

Hello, beautiful ladies!

Today I have some two great products to show you all.  They are from a product line called Garden Botanika  I found them online while I was searching for great new organic companies.  Natural seems to be the trend in beauty, and consequently in our blog lately!

A little bit about their company:  Garden Botanika sells cruelty free products that are never tested on animals.  On their website, they show a wide variety of product categories:  Skincare, Bath and Body, Fragrance, and Cosmetics. If you find yourself on their website, and filling your shopping cart, it may be worthwhile to invest in the "Garden Club Membership."  For $15 you can be a member, and enjoy:  15% off every purchase for 12 months, free shipping on your initial order, and then free shipping on future orders of $100 or more, 25% off during your birthday month, an additional 5% off (for a total of 20%) occassionally, and $5 off your second order.  If you are planning to drop some serious cash, this would be the way to do it!

The two products I have to review are their best selling fragrance, Heart Eau De Parfum, and their lip and cheek stain.

This is the box it came in.  I loved their creative eco packaging.  The stuffing felt like perforated cardboard.  I love keeping the packagaing when I get it so I can recycle it when I do our giveaways!

Heart Eau De Parfum.

What their website says:
Our most popular selling fragrance.  A light, sheer breeze of fragrance to refresh you throughout the day.  Heart fragrance blends the sheer sense of florals with tones of cedar, citrus, and a hint of musk.  3.38 fl. oz.  Free of parabens, gluten, and phthlates.  $28

My review:  I appreciated that the fragrance was light and it's a great value for the size of the bottle.  For $28 you get quite a bit of perfume in there!  If you are into naturals, you'll also appreciate the ingredient list, which is really short and everything on there is easy to pronounce.  On my skin, the musk tones were more apparent than the light and fruity tones.  Everybody's skin reacts differently to fragrance.  One of my aunts wears this amazing light citrus perfume, and every time she wears it I compliment her and make a mental note to pick it up.  But when I wear the scent, it changes on my skin and leaves a scent I don't really care for.  I had a similar experience with this fragrance.  It didn't work well with my natural oils, but that's not to say it won't work for you.  If you are the kind of person who wears a lot of light, fruity, citrus, musk cents you will really enjoy this perfume and the way it smells on your skin.

If you go to their site, you'll find this perfume has a cult following!  The comments are littered with fans saying they've been using this for 10 years and they can't imagine a better fragrance.  I would urge you to track down a sample or see if you could give this a try if this is your type of scent.

The ingredient list is short but sweet!

Cherry Lip and Cheek Stain
What their website says:  You'll look natural flushed when your sweetheart whispers.  Our cherry lip and cheekstain is more blendable than other stains out there, and our stain is the perfect color pick-me-up for lips and cheeks.  Glides on easily without drying for a healthy "outdoors" flush of color.  Small enough to fit in your front jeans pocket.  Essential enough to take everywhere.  Blend lip and cheek stain over the apples of your cheeks for a naturally sheer look.  And slip over lips for a quick, easy color.  0.09 oz.  $18

The packaging they use is truly beautiful!

I love the frosted glass, so elegant!

The color is very rich in the pan.

Sorry for the slightly blurry picture- this is the shade on my cheeks and on my lips.  I applied lip balm before I applied the stain to my lips.

My review:  You can't beat the convenience of being able to slip this in your pocket on-the-go.  It's a very nice universally flattering shade.  It has a creamy but thin application.  You apply this with your fingers, so people who don't like to dip back into a container want to be careful to have clean digits when dipping in.  I generally like to apply my cheek products after foundation and powder, but not so with this product.  When I applied it in my normal order, it streaked horribly on my cheeks to the point where I needed to start over with makeup remover.  When applying to the cheeks, apply right after your foundation, and powder lightly over top if you need to.  Application should be done with the ring finger by patting 3 or 4 light dots on the cheeks and blending them in.  Rather than a lip stain, I would categorize it more as a cross between a stain and a balm.  This color is semi long lasting but will need reapplication to maintain the color.  Overall, this product is a nice option for a lip and cheek stain.

Garden Botanika is having an event on their Facebook page right now where they are giving away free gifts throughout the month of March.  You can read more information and link to their Facebook site HERE.  Make sure when you "like" them you tell them you were sent by TruBeautyGems!

Garden Botanika can be purchased at www.gardenbotanika.com. Garden Botanika currently ships to the U.S. and Canada only.

These products were sent to me for review, but the opinions are honest and my own.
