CellCeuticals Skincare Review

Hello everyone!

We have been deep in reviews this month on skincare.  We wanted to remind you all that we have a 100 subscriber giveaway, where we are giving away an awesome CellCeuticals Skincare set.  We were given the privilege to review this products as well, and you won't be disappointed.  I'll be jealous of whomever of you lucky ladies (or gents) gets to give these products a new home.

We received a 60 day kit, which retails at $120 ($200 value).  It includes:
Extremely Gentle Skin Cleanser
CellGenesis Regenerative Skin Treatment
Extreme Defense Anti-Cell Damage Skin Treatment

Plus 2 Deluxe Gifts:
CerActive Active Moisture+Barrier Repair Skin Treatment
NeoCell Micro-Resurfacing Skin Treatment

Jessica and I don't like to switch up our skin care regimen in a way that will make our skin react, so we each reviewed a few of the products.  We were both impressed by this skin care regimen and were introduced to it by Beauty Army.  If you want to try the products before buying them, I highly recommend signing up for the Beauty Army service.  You can check them out here: or on Facebook at

Our Review:

Extremely Gentle Skin Cleanser- 6.7 oz, $35

The first thing I thought of when I read the description on this product was that it wasn't going to work on my skin type.  Why?  Every time I read a product label that claims to be gentle to skin, it is usually a lotion based cleanser (the kind they often tell you to tissue off) and leaves my skin very oily.  I have normal/combination skin.  My skin tends to be more on the normal to dry end, but I do tend to break out with pimples when I'm stressed, so I can't use oil based products.  Anyhow, this stuff really surprised me.  It felt GREAT on my skin and really got my skin clean.  I love that it lathered wonderfully and really cleaned out my pores.  As soon as I toweled off my face I thought, WOW why can't every cleanser leave my skin that refreshed?  It is a clean, but not tight feeling.

The product also claims on their website to have the ability to remove eye makeup.  It's a habit of mine to remove my eye makeup before cleansing, but I do notice when I use this product, there are no remnants of eye makeup at all on my face.  It truly does a great job of leaving my skin clean, hydrated, and supple.

BIG thumbs up to this product!

Cell Genesis Regenerative Skin Treatment, 1 fl. oz, $85

This container seems to be only slightly smaller than the cleanser, but is only 1 oz of product, rather than 6.7 oz.  I'm guessing the plastic container contains only a small tube of product inside, which is a little disappointing and misleading.  Although, these products are a 60 day supply, so you know it will last at least that long.  This product contains a breakthrough GFP Cellular Complex that acts as a cellular stimulant to encourage the regeneration of new surface cells for visibly younger skin.  In just two weeks, it claims your skin will look and feel firmer and remarkably radiant, with visible lines and wrinkles dramatically diminished.  It is also for all ages and skin types.

This has a gel like texture and feels cool and pleasant as it is applied on your face. There is a scent but it is light and non irritating. I find this can leave your skin feeling a little sticky after and kind of tight. As this skins into your skin the longer it is on, the sticky feeling seems to dissipate a bit. I guess the tighter feeling is kind of the point if you want to firm up your skin. I don't have a lot of wrinkles to begin with, so I couldn't really review whether this helped diminish the appearance of wrinkles.  I did need some additional moisture after this product and so I used the Active Moisture + Barrier Treatment in addition.

Extreme Defense Anti-Cell Damage Skin Treatment, 1 fl. oz, $70

This is a powerful antioxidant treatment that works during the day to help defend skin against age-promoting free-radicals.  It helps prevent cellular oxidative stress that may cause skin damage.  It claims that when used along with the rest of the system, it will diminish visible wrinkles by 36%, decrease the appearance of the deepest wrinkle depth by 45%, refine skin texture by 31%, and reduce skin redness by 87%.

I really enjoy the scent of this product.  It is fresh, and smells like oranges, which luckily is a scent I like. If you don't like that smell, this product might bother you.  I don't know if my skin was remarkably different, but I did notice my skin was brighter than normal, and I had less of those little lines under my eyes (you know- the ones your concealer always gets trapped in- yuck!)  I am only 25 so I don't have deep wrinkles or lines yet, but I do have the beginning signs of aging.  I really liked the smell, and I felt that it did make a difference in my skin.  My skin is not normally red, so that was not an issue I felt this addressed.

As with the other skin treatment, I felt that this one was about the same height as the cleanser (minus the cap) but a whole lot less product.  Keep in mind, this is a 60 day supply, however, I really like my products to have as much product in them as they look like they do.

I should note that I still used a toner before using this product, and a moisturizer after.  The kit did not come with either but I did feel that I needed a little extra moisture.

CerActive Active Moisture + Barrier Repair Skin Treatment, 2 fl. oz, $47.50

This product claims to be a deep penetrating moisture and barrier repair skin treatment that works between surface cells to soothe dry skin and provide long-lasting hydration. You can use this alone or in addition to the other products. This is a great product to add some much needed moisture to your skin. My skin tends to be on the dryer side and so I like to have this deluxe sized tube on hand for those extra dry winter days.

NeoCell Micro-Resurfacing Skin Treatment, 2 fl. oz, $47.50

This product uses natural enzymes and volcanic microminerals to gentle resurface skin without irritation, revealing smoother, more radiant, and healthier-looking skin.

This has the feel of a very fine particle scrub. If you are not use to face scrubs or exfoliators, I would start out lightly with this product. Using water with this is a must. Apply a quarter size amount to a wet face and gently rub in circles on your face. I could see how this could feel a little harsh on your skin if you have sensitive skin.Your skin will feel much softer afterwards and this works great on dry patches of skin.

Justina had the exact opposite thoughts on this and would've liked even more exfoliating action and thought this would be perfect for sensitive skin. It just goes to show you how skincare is really going to vary by person.

Overall thoughts:

The website claims that these products are perfect for all ages and skin types.  While they worked well on us, I do think that's kind of a hard claim to stand by.  I was impressed to see their website had some proof in pictures!

While we enjoyed all their products, the real winner of the line for me was the cleanser!  I highly recommend it!  I hope to get a Clarisonic soon, and if I do this cleanser will be my go to for sure.  I am really interested to see how such a thorough cleanser works with this deep cleaning brush.  Stay tuned for more reviews!

Thank you CellCeuticals for the opportunity to try your products, and for sending us products to giveaway to our fans.  We look forward to reaching 100 subscribers so we can give away this awesome skincare set.

Please note that while we were given these products at no cost to ourselves, our opinion is honest.  We strive to bring you the best and most honest in beauty reviews!

Yours in Beauty, Justina and Jessica

BABOR Organics

BABOR Organic Review

Babor is a German company that has been in the skincare game for 50 years. This organic line uses the best of materials including Glacier water from Mont Cervin, Switzerlan, Edelweiss to calm the skin and provide protection against free radicals, Meadowfoam seed oil to repair the lipid film and add long lasting moisture, and oxygen energy with white lentil extract to invigorate cell renewal.

These products DO NOT contain: synthetic colorants, synthetic perfume substances, animal raw materials, petro based ingredients, paraffins, PEGs, parabens, irradiated ingredients, genetically modified raw materials.

They really pay attention to detail and put all the best finishing touches on their products. I love their packaging and how the frosted white type design fits perfectly with their product concept

Face scrub, biological enzyme cleanser, pure mattifying cream
I will be reviewing the enzyme cleanser in the future.

Crystal Face Scrub. I love this product! My face feels so soft after and this works great if you have some pesky dry patches of skin.

Very small particles in this, great gel like consistency, light smell.
Apply this lightly to your face and rub lightly in circles for about 30 seconds. Then add a bit of water and rub in circles as well. I would start out using this once a month to every two weeks and then use it weekly. This does have a peeling effect, so I would start out slower. I do love this and recommend it.

Follow up:
Justina's mom is 51 and tried this scrub.  We were very interested to see how this would work on a different skin type.  Her skin type is normal and her main skin care concerns are anti aging.

Her thoughts:  I have been periodically using this product.  It has a mild, pleasant smell.  I feel like the granules dissolve too quickly to be effective as an actual scrub but if you have sensitive skin it may be the right product for you.

Babor mattifying cream

Babor mattifying cream
This has a light weight consistency and a typical face product smell to it. This is targeted to oily or combination skin, my skin is normal to dry and so I don't think I could get a full review on the effects this product has on reducing shine. Justina can update you on her thoughts on this as well.

Indie Lee Products Review

The Power Trio: Retails $80 (save $10 off purchasing separate)
The Body Scrub, $38, 12 oz. This is a huge size! This is my favorite product.
The smell is unbelievable and this will soften up very dry problem areas. I've been using it on my elbows, knees, and legs and find for a couple days after my skin remains softer.

The Body Balm, $24, 1.5oz.
A little goes a long way with this. This is great for elbows, heels, and hands. I used this around the cuticle area and noticed my hands looked softer. I get a lot of dry skin on my hands in the winter. This does have a oily type feel to it, it will sink into your skin. I personally prefer lotions over balms.

The Body Balm

Lavender Face Oil, $24, 4 oz, Huge bottle for the price!
My skin has looked great after using this and alternating it with the Squalane Facial Oil. This will not leave your face feeling oily and it will not clog your pores. This is my second fave product and I would highly recommend.

Body Lotion, Squalane Facial Oil, Lavender Facial Oil, Cleansing Bars
Body Wash, Body Scrub
I'm in love with this lotion. It smells amazing, but I didn't see it for sale on the website.
Body Scrub: This loosens up or you can add a dab of water to it in the shower

My hands and skin have been very soft using these. I keep these by my bathroom sink.

If you want to try out her product I would suggest signging up for Beauty Army which is a monthly beauty subscription service, $12/month where you get to choose your own 6 samples. Indie Lee is partnering with them. Otherwise, I would highly recommend purchasing the Power Trio which is the body scrub, the body balm, and the lavender face oil. This retails for $80 which saves you $10 than if you had purchased separately. This includes my 2 fave products which are the body scrub and face oil.

Thanks Indie for bringing us these natural, not greenwashed products!

Turquoise and Red, Loving Brights for Spring!

Hello Beauties!

Two unexpected colors I love to pair together in the spring are turquoise and bright red.  I painted my nails last night for my Rimmel 10 video and couldn't resist throwing on a turquoise ring today.  I love that it looks fresh and clean, American, and vintage all at the same time.

Do you ever wear a scaled down version of a look just to feel like you're kind of channeling something much greater?  I'll show you what I mean.

What I'm Wearing:

Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro Nail Polish in Stilleto Red
& Turquoise ring

What I Feel Like I'm Wearing:

Weekend Favorites

My parents came to visit this weekend and we had a great time. I just wanted to do a short recap of the weekend and list some products from this weekend. I taught my parents about the steps to proper skincare and loaded them up with awesome MAD Skincare anti-aging products. Here is what I taught my mom:

1. Cleanse
2. Tone
3. Moisturize
4. Serums-face or eye
5. Prime
6. Foundation

After using my 100% Pure brightening tonique, both my parents did a MAD environmental face mask and I did the MAD brightening face mask since I had just used the environmental one. I love them both! They then applied MAD anti-aging night-time moisturizer and some 100& Pure caffeine bean eye cream. We were all looking so beautiful. My mom is going to continue to use the products and update us. I took some before pictures so we can see the results she got.

She just recently purchased some bareMinerals products too so I showed her the proper application for the foundation, mineral veil, and all over face color. We had fun playing with some products. My mom looks amazing for her age, she looks a lot younger than she is and she knows how to keep style in her wardrobe. My dad is actually an excellent shopper too and he buys her nice outfits. He actually saves all his change from the year and then at christmas cashes it in to buy her an outfit, how great is that?

How cute is she?

My dad staying stylish! He loves shoes!

Here is a Vera Wang purse from Kohl's, on clearance it was $10. I get my bargain shopping genes from my mom I guess! I may inherit this bag. She bought 2 bags and can't decide which one she will use for an event, so this puppy may be mine! How cute!

And now for my gift of the weekend!
Dooney & Burke coin purse. Loving this color! She knows my style!

I also received this lipstick in the mail from Exude and will be doing a video review very soon. I'm loving the packaging, color, minty tingle, application, and look of this lipstick! This is endorsed by celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe. Retails $29. I learned of this brand from Birchbox. They have it in their store this month, so if you have points to cash in, I would recommend checking this out! I love the white packaging, I can't think of any other lipstick that is packaged this way. This also turns up to allow the right amount of product to come through and the plastic applicator ensures your lipstick maintains this shape, making application even easier.

Exude lipstick in Plum.
More extensive review and blog to come this week

Nails tonight:
ZOYA "Anja"

Other products purchased this week based on my mom's research. I think she heard about these from "The Doctors" or "Doctor Oz", I can't remember where, but it was from a show on the best drugstore products. I can't remember the details, I will have to ask her again and update this.

1. Aquaphor by Eucerin for dry patches around your mouth
2. Eucerin lotion for hands and body
3. Cetaphil
4. L'oreal Revitalift

That about sums it up! Stay tuned this week for my review of BABOR Organic, Indie Lee, and a vlog on Exude lipstick!

Guest Blog- Teeth Whitening

Hello my pretties!  Our very own guest blogger, Lauren, from Married to Music blog, did a blog posting for us on teeth whitening.  Lauren works in a dentist's office, so she has some special insight into this topic.  Previous to reading this post, I didn't know there were so many options for teeth whitening!  I do know that just like a good eyebrow wax, whitening your teeth can make a huge difference in how great you look.

We hope to hear more from Lauren in the future through her blog posts.  Unlike Jessica and I, Lauren is a light skinned lady with very vibrant, gorgeous, red hair.  While Jessica and I can bring you lots of to-do's and information on how to take care of curly and wavy brown hair, Lauren has all the info on keeping your hair vibrant and delightfully red.  So keep your eyes peeled for more posts from her in the future!

In my day job as an office coordinator in a dental practice, I've learned a few tricks of the trade. I've also worked my way through a few drugstore products, and I'm glad to share my knowledge! Professional teeth whitening is expensive and time-consuming. It takes one appointment at your dentist to take the impression for your custom trays ($200+), then you come back a week later to pick up the trays, and have to buy the expensive whitening gel ($29 a pop at my office) from them every time you want to re-do your teeth. (The gel does expire and can go to waste if you don't use it regularly.)

First off, I cannot stress enough the importance of seeing your dentist for a regular check-up and cleaning every 6 months. Once tartar builds up on your teeth, home brushing cannot remove it, only a cleaning by your hygienist can. The foundation of a beautiful smile is a healthy one :)

(Also, before using at-home whitening products, talk to your dentist. Full disclosure: I am NOT a licensed dentist, hygienist, OR dental assistant.)

1. Crest® 3D White™ Vivid Whitestrips®, $29.99 at

Probably the best bang for your buck if you don't mind waiting 10 days for the full effect. My teeth were noticeably whiter in 3 days with full results in 10. Crest has other strips that work faster, but they cost $10-15 more. I rather plan ahead for a special occasion and save the cash.

Walgreens Advanced Whitening Dental Wraps (or similar product under another store's brand), under $20

NOT worth your money. The strips are bulky and made of wax, thus very uncomfortable to wear for the required 30 minutes per day. They don't work as well as Crest.

3. Crest® Whitestrips® Supreme Professional, $55+ at your dentist

This is professional grade whitening in strip form. You can only get them through a dental professional, but the outcome is totally worth it. You can find them online, but beware, they may be selling expired merchandise. You wear the strips for 30 minutes a day for two weeks, but the outcome is comparable to professional gel whitening and at 1/3 the cost.

If you've tried everything and still want professional whitening, go for it. I recommend avoiding chain dental practices and ones that use Groupon or LivingSocial. You may think you are getting a good deal, but one thing you don't want to skimp on is healthcare. Make sure you are going to a reputable practice with good recommendations.

Hope this was helpful!

LTW Custom Cosmetics Review

I recently learned of a company called LTW Cosmetics when I was searching Facebook for new makeup companies.  I was so excited when I stumbled upon their site, because they seemed to be such an exciting product line- they have the most gorgeous packaging for their lipstick (you'll see!) and the cutest names for their products.  I knew I had to scoop some up to share with all our readers.

I'll fill you in on some details of the company and what they have to offer since they're a newer company and you may not know already...if you've already looked them up on Facebook or you're already an obsessed fan of their products, just scroll down until you get to the good stuff.  You know what to do!

But for some extra info:

They were doing a sale the week I received my order, where a purchase of six eyeshadow pans would earn you a free compact- a $35 value.  Rock on!  I am not sure if they will run that exact special again, but if you keep track of them on Facebook, you can stay tuned to all the great sales and deals they have going on at all times.  Unlike many companies, they seem to keep up their Facebook page frequently in order to answer any questions and to keep you posted on the latest and greatest happening with their company.

A little information on their custom compact:  All shadows, blush, and brush on brow products are sold in pans that only go into this refillable magnetized compact.  This makes for no waste and you get what you want, also eliminates makeup bag clutter and hunting for your individual shadows.  Once again, it retails at $35.

My order came in a beautifully packaged box, with a bright ribbon.  The words on the ribbon- "Unleash your Secret Sexy."

When I opened the box, there was my order...6 eyeshadow pans, a compact, a lipstick, and a lipgloss.

Eyeshadow pans to fill the compact retail at $12 each.  I will try to capture on camera how beautiful these shades are when swatched. I got 6 pans so I could fill up my entire compact:

They came in these little single packages, which you could keep them in if you didn't have a compact!
The shades:
Rumble, Sunset Strip, Cat Fight, Illegal, Brown Derby, Promiscuous

Top left column:
Cat Fight- rich, deep purple with multidimensional pearl
Rumble- dark, pine green shadow with gold sparkle
Sunset Strip- black shadow with silver, pink, and blue sparkles (I can only see the silver)
Top right column:
Ilegal- high frost light cream tone highlighter shadow
Promiscuous- plum shadow with high gold sparkle and pearl
Brown Derby- plum brown with pink, silver, and plum pearl
top to bottom:
Illegal, Promiscuous, Brown Derby, Cat Fight, Rumble, Sunset Strip

Illegal and Promiscuous

Brown Derby and Cat Fight

Cat Fight, Rumble, Sunset Strip

 Illegal on the lid!

Doesn't this shade make a great highlighter?  I love it!

Rumble is such a gorgeous shade!

Rumble tucked into the crease!

Cat Fight is one of my favorite new shades- it's a matte purple color and looks wonderful if you put it on the outer V of your eyelid.

The whole look comes together when you add liner and mascara!

Then comes lipstick and lipgloss.  I have tried a lot of makeup, and let me tell you I've never seen anything like the beauty in this packaging.  What they offer your lips is unparalelled to any other products in the industry.  Here is why- for a little bit extra you can customize their lip products to your specifications.

Lip Plumper- $2
They actually did studies that it improved volume, hydration, softness, lip condition, and more to lips in a 29 day trial- cool!!!

Multi Floral Complex- $1
Anti-aging, skin nourishing, collagen protector and booster, free radical fighter that increases skin immunity, helps seal in moisture, anti-inflammatory, rich in skin minerals.

 Sunscreen- $1
Paraben Free, adds SPF up to 14, and non-irritating.

Flavors & Essences- $1 each
Can be added to custom blend lipstick and gloss.

There are 11 unique flavors and 6 essences to choose from, as well as 15 combinations!  All are listed on their website here.

I dare you to find any line that offers that many unique possibilities all in a little tube of lipstick, and especially at that price point.  How many times have you put on one of your favorite lipstick shades and secretly wished it didn't smell like fruit punch?  Now you have the option to select your own flavor and scent.  You can't beat it!

The shade I chose in lipstick is from their Ready To Wear Line- and the lipstick is called Bitch and retails for $20. It comes in the cutest lipstick tube that I can't WAIT to carry with me everywhere.  The Ready to Wear line cannot be customized with flavors, or other additives.  But they are perfect on their own! Look at this little beauty!  I should add that they make it super easy to select a lip stick shade because they separate them by category of color- mine was found on the warm pinks/peaches page.

woops, upside down, but you get the picture!

Bitch lipstick- the name cracks me up!

After adding Porn Star lip gloss on top

I couldn't resist picking up a custom blend lip gloss though, because I absolutely needed to try some of this irresistible additive stuff that I've never seen before.  My lip gloss is called Porn Star (hilarious name right?)  I was so excited to try the pink champagne flavor and multi-floral complex. It is a patent leather custom gloss so that means shine shine shine!  I'm so excited to improve my lip health while I treat my lips to a flavor like strawberries floating in champagne- divine!  These retail at $22.

A Few Other Cool Things You Should Know:

Something else you should know is the do the coolest service ever for their customers- They offer custom color matching and custom created shades.  Let me explain why this is the raddest thing you've ever heard of.  Ever have the most beautiful pink silk shirt or bright red shoe but there's just not a lipstick out there that does it justice?  LTW to the rescue!  They literally create a custom match that is perfectly and exactly like your swatch or picture in every way.  They can also take your discontinued lipstick and recreate an exact color for you, so you never have to be without.  Plus, with the additives you can put in, you are really getting something better than ever before, because you can customize it to yourself.

What a great idea for a present for someone special in your life.  Not to mention the fact it comes in an adorable leopard print tube.  I think this would make an amazing gift for a bride or a best friend.  Create their ideal lipstick shade...nobody will have thought of that gift!

LTW is only available online at the moment.  Because it can be difficult to choose the best shade for you via the internet, you can try before you buy.  For 50 cents, they will send you a small slice of any lipstick or Creme Stix Foundations to try at home.  Check out the website here for more details.

They also have a sales catalog at a 50% discount for products they are retiring.  It's called Ciao Bella and is choc full of great deals on beautiful products.  How cool!

Ok, now on to my fabulous makeup review...

My apologies if that was a little long winded, but I haven't gotten so excited about a makeup line in a long time.  They offer so many unique possibilities within their line it's easy to get wrapped up in all they have to offer!

I took a picture of the eyeshadow pans next to the packaging of another popular brand, Lancome.  I figure a lot of you know about the size of packaging those come in, so it should be easy to see how much BIGGER LTW offers their eyeshadow pans.  Surprisingly, they are far bigger and cheaper!  $12 each vs. $20 for the Lancome.  I really liked the shades in my palette.  There are several more on their website that are on my wish list now!  What I like best about the eyeshadow pans are that they don't have any fallout, but they are very easy to apply to the eyelid.  They are a powder, yet so creamy.  And once on your eyelid, it doesn't budge.

The colors were very nice.  I especially liked the matte purple shade.  This color as well as the black shimmery color are perfect for lining the eyes.  You just need an eyeliner brush, and you can go right over the line you created with your eyeliner.  They have many more exciting colors on their website to check out also.

Please note that I ALWAYS use an eye primer, and didn't test these without- so I'm not sure how they would've held up without.  I feel that it's a waste to use eye shadow if you're not going to prime and prepare your lids- it just helps the shadow stick better in my opinion, no matter what brand.  I also use a makeup setting spray when I am finished.

The lipstick was in the most gorgeous packaging- you really can't beat a leopard print packaging!  It is long wearing and stayed on my lips all day.  It certainly translates to the lips in a warm pink shade which I loved.  My only complaint about the lipstick is it wasn't super hydrating and you would likely need a balm underneath.  Just going over my lips with the color caused the stick to lean over to the edge of the tube.  It's not a big deal, and it still works great.  For $20 I feel the formula is average, but the lipstick is worth it for the packaging alone.

The lipgloss was my favorite part of the whole order.  I loved the additives, and they were so yummy to smell and to taste.  I would absolutely place an order to purchase one of these in the future.  For $22 you are certainly paying for the customization, but if you are one who is picky about your flavors and scents, it would be worth it for you.  The color I tried was sort of a milky purple, that did not look good on my lips alone, but looked great layered over lipstick.  I especially liked to wear it just in the center of my bottom lip to add a little shine that way.  Wearing it that way also conserves product so that my lipgloss lasts in the future.

I haven't seen these products outside of the internet since they're only available online right now.  In the future, I would love to see them partner up with some of the companies out there like Beauty Army and Birchbox to get a lot of people really into their brand.  It is definitely a company you would want to check out!  I will be taking advantage of their samples very soon!

Don't forget to "like" them on facebook and tell them TruBeautyGems sent you!

Yours in Beauty, Justina
