Orange & Purple Color Blocking Makeup

Hello everybody!

I've been having trouble getting my pictures from my phone to upload to the internet, but FINALLY a week later, I can post this cute post!

I had some fun playing with colors that are fun and unexpected together.  First I did a purple lip, with a coral eye.  Weird, huh?  I thought it was quirky-cute.

Look 1

Purple Lip= Mac Goes and Goes and Revlon Lip Butter in Gumdrop
Coral eye= Lancome Touch of Coral
Outfit= Sweater by Silvers, earrings- Funkonrose.com; Anne Klein Watch- Macy's

The watch?  It was on my Christmas list!!  Remember when I posted about it?  Mike's so good to me :-)
This is my favorite sweater for jeans AND leggings.  Literally goes with everything.  It is tight in the right places and loose in the right places and so snuggly!  I definitely packed it for my trip!

And as a bonus, I reversed my look!

Look 2

Eye shadow--Now you see it......

Now you don't!

Purple eye shadow= Lancome Single- Drama
Gold eye liner= Stila Koi
Lips= Clinique Ambrosia

A couple tips for this look--

  • If you are not totally comfortable doing a stark contrast of colors or anything too vibrant together, you can get the same look by going subtle!  I recommend finding a Revlon Lip Butter color that closely resembles the color you are working with.  It instantly lightens the intensity of the color.
    • Pair the purple lip- Mac's Goes and Goes with Revlon LB in Gumdrop
    • Pair the orange lip- Clinique's Ambrosia and Revlon LB in Candy Apple

Have no clue what I'm talking about?  Jessica can show you right HERE! << click, silly
(It's tip #8)

  • If you want to do a fun eye shade with a vibrant lip, try covering just the bottom third of your lid in shadow as I did in Look #2.  It's very subtle and if you're looking straight at someone, they may not even notice you are sporting vibrant colors on your lids.
Which do you like better?

Well, maybe you don't have to choose.  I color blocked it!

Kind of funky, I dig it!  Definitely keep the eye neutral if you want to go this route.

I have a feeling color blocked lips and vibrantly contrasting eye/lip shades will be really popular this spring!  I've already seen a lot of unexpected trends like drawing eyeliner on the crease of your lid, a la Twiggy.  Not sure if I'll be jumping on THAT bandwagon, but my looks here are a little more practical.

Thanks for reading!  Let me know which look you liked the best!!

Yours in Beauty, Justina
