Flight Carry Ons/Airport Goodies

Hey everyone!

I couldn't believe how seriously stoked I was to finally be in my hotel room tonight so I could write to all of you.  Writing a blog post is literally the highlight of my day most days.  I absolutely love it, and I hope you all love to read what we have to write.

Today, I spent over 15 hours in various airports.  I left my home La Crosse, WI at 5:00 am for our 6:00 am flight.  Arrived in Minneapolis, MN about 45 minutes later.  3 hour layover.  11:30 am or so we boarded for Seattle, crossed 2 time zones, and arrived at 3:30 (based on my watch- actually it was 1:30 with all the time zone changes).  Then we had another 3 hour layover and FINALLY arrived in Wenatchee around 6:00 pm.  Needless to say, I am tired, a little cranky, a lot sore, and bloated from airport food and too many coffee drinks.

I made the pitiful mistake of applying my makeup at 4:30 am and hoping it would stay all day with Urban Decay All Nighter Spray- HA!  Big mistake.  I did pack a little carry on zip lock baggy with all the items I wanted to use on the plane though:

Here's the goodies inside:
Bath and Body Works antibacterial hand sanitizer
Urban Decay lip gloss in Midnight Cowboy
Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss
Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee
Clinique Lip Crayon in Melon
Maybelline Age Rewind Eye Eraser in Brighten
L'Occitane hand cream
Mascara Sample
Clinique Even Better Serum
Clinique Anti Puff Eye Roller
Anti pressure earplugs
Lancome Teint Idole sample
Extra contact lenses
Naphron A antihistamine eyedrops

Yeah, I know you're thinking, geez, lipstick much?! But, I like to be comfy and the only way to ensure that you'll have absolutely everything you need is to take with you more than you think you'll need.  You are allowed to take liquid products that are up to 3.4 oz each, and all of your liquid products must fit together in a quart baggie.  You can of course, pack anything you would like in your luggage that's checked.  Somehow, my husband and I both packed in the same suitcase, and it weighed 50 pounds!  We made it!  I can't believe it, because usually I require my own luggage.  It's a belated Christmas miracle.

Oh, by the way, I also spent the better part of three days packing to ensure I didn't forget anything.  I used several online resources and packing list to ensure I literally forgot NOTHING.    Let me know if you'd like the links to those and I'd be happy to share.  Just leave a comment.  Jessica and I both make an effort to answer every single comment we receive here and on our Youtube channel.  Just today, in the airport I texted Jessica "Hey don't forget to respond to that one comment we got!"  No lie.  We love you guys.

Ok- so other highlights of the day.  The Seattle Airport was amazing.  They have a Butter London, which is a brand of nail polish that I know Jessica is currently obsessed with.  They literally had an entire nail salon operation using only that product directly across from the terminal I was waiting at.  A bottle of the polish is $18 at the airport, but I am going to keep my eye out for a better price now that I've seen it around here more than once.

I made a breakthrough discovery in the world of finger nail polish and actually painted my nails for this trip.  HUGE disclaimer:  I NEVER paint my fingernails EVER because they always chip and I can never make them perfect like Jessica who literally has perfect fingernails.  BUT...I found this awesome Sally Hansen base coat, nail polish, and top coat all in one polish called "Commander in Chic" and I literally loved it so much, I needed to paint my nails for vacation and I brought it with me.  That's how much I love this stuff!  My mom loves neutrals and she even let me paint her nails before we left.

I did two coats of this and I topped it with my new Top Coat by Seche Vite.  I found it at Walgreens for $4, and after reading Blushing Basics' blog where she raves about it non stop, I just had to pick some up.  I realize I didn't need to top my all in one polish with a top coat, but I figured why not.  I'm really hard on my nails and I keep them short because they get abused and chipped, and ugly.  This stuff though, is like heaven in a bottle.  My posted picture is a little funky because I couldn't get a good shot without people in the airport thinking I was off my rocker.  But I do love it.  The finish is like glass it is so shiny, and it truly looks like an acrylic nail or like a professional did it.  It actually reminds me of my gel manicure I got for my wedding.

Seattle's airport was more amazing than words.  They even had "The Body Shop!"  Seriously, in the airport!  And everything was on sale!  I was so in awe and practically dying to buy out the store, but I had to limit myself to things I could carry on the plane.  I ended up indulging in their 3 for $10 sale, and I was able to get over $80 worth of products for that much.  I was so happy I stopped there even though there was more I could've gotten.  My backup supply of things I've gotten for free or reduced price, or gift with purchase extras, etc, is getting a little obnoxious.  And one of my beauty resolutions for this year was don't be wasteful- don't buy more than I can use in a reasonable amount of time.  So I stopped at my 3 things.  Yay me.

I will definitely try out my products tomorrow and post a look!  I have a couple really neat pictures I want to share with you all that I took from the plane.  They are so beautiful.  Sometimes you can't tell the clouds from the snow on the mountains!

These were all taken between Seattle and Wenatchee, WA.  which is a 25 minute plane ride!

And here was my fortune tonight at the Mongolian Grill:

I'm secretly wishing this was directed at my husband, but more on that tomorrow.

  1. I've spent way more time than I would live having slept in airports and train stations. The coolest airport was in Frankfurt, Germany where we actually went tanning. Back when I was 20 and that wasn't much of a concern! But to get a tan while waiting for your plane? Awesome. I miss the London airports they would have "pick a mix" where there were tons of different gummies and candies and you just picked whatever you wanted, threw it in one bag, and enjoyed :) We seriously looked forward to it. Plus, London has "wine gummies" which are gummies in the flavor of wine!!! I do miss some things about traveling!
