Shopping Secrets- November

Hey All!  Before I ravish you all with my shopping secrets for November, just want to fill you in on a couple of things that are coming up soon!

  1. We haven't done any video blogs for a while.  Sorry!  We will rock your socks off in December, promise!
  2. We have both done many hauls this month with all of the phenomenal sales going on and we will have lots of posts and swatches coming up to show you what we love (and don't love).
  3. Get ready because we are so excited.....we are going to be doing our top picks and Best of the Year awards very soon!  We are rounding up our favorite products and making sure they don't sweat off or crease or disappoint to see if they could be in the running for best in beauty 2011!  It will be very similar to Emily Eddington's Emily Awards except we will be doing many more categories than any other bloggers we have seen online.  We are super pumped and can't to share with you!

Ok and onto our shopping secrets!

This one is super important.  Know which stores give the best deals for having a credit card, and only open or use credit cards at these stores.  Macy's generally gives an extra 20% off (which you can stack with the clearance prices or coupons you have) for opening a store credit card.  Once you have the card, you can usually get an extra 15-20% off just for using it.  They do this ALL THE TIME.  Usually on weekends, but sometimes during the week too.  Check your Macy's flyer or look online to keep track of this.  I only shop there when I get a use your card savings deal.  The trick is you have to pay it off on the spot in full or you end up getting interest.  But who doesn't want an extra 20% off their purchase?  Yes, please!

Check out what celebrities are doing makeup lines or fashion lines for the discount stores. Here's a coupon recent examples I can think of, although there are hundreds:  Poppy King, "the lipstick queen" sells lipsticks for couture prices, but she is doing a line for Boots (a UK brand you can find at Target) for $9.99.  Also, Alice + Olivia, some famous fashion designers who sell their shoes for about the price of one of my bi-weekly paychecks have done lines in the past for Target.  They sell out fast but if you stay on top of your game and scope it out as soon as you hear about it you might get lucky enough to have your size still be there.  Also, Gucci Westman recently did a makeup line for Revlon and came out with some gorgeous colors.  I read about these in a magazine, and literally checked out 5+ Walgreens stores until I found the one in our area that carried these beautiful, bedazzling colors.  As always, check reviews before you buy.  I checked reviews at only one website for the makeup colors, and they ended up being duds anyways.  So always check at least a couple sources to see if it's worth the buy.  Or at least make sure the store you are purchasing from has a good return policy!

Check out your local TJ Maxx, Costco, or Big Lots to check out if they have any discounted makeup sets.  This time of year, there are many holiday gift sets that great companies come out with.  I have seen some really great deals at TJ Maxx where a gift set that is worth $115 is going for $30, and often times you can check out the clearance and some of those sets are marked at least another $5 off.  One idea I love is to grab some gift sets and split them up.  If you see something you love in the gift set, grab it out for yourself and gift the rest!

Target has super cute organizational items in their $1 bins this time of year.  I recently bought 3 of these really cute damask little carriers.  They are made of that shiny painted cardboard material, so they'll probably last a few months, but hey that's ok with me.  They are meant to be used with tissue paper to be little gift bins but I've been using them as storage to organize some of my makeup.  Pretty handy and they have lots of fun colors!

This is a great time of year to check out some new brands that you haven't given a chance yet.  E.l.f. is a great brand at Target that retails for $1-5 dollars.  Because of the holidays they have a lot of gift sets on sale where you can get 50+ colors for $15.  If you've never tried it now might be a great time to give it a shot.  Also, I rediscovered a line called Boots that they sell at Target.  In college, I remember seeing their lip balm at Target and loving it.  It must have been good, because I use a ton of different kinds of lip balm and theirs stands out to me as being great.  So when I spotted some of their skin care on sale at Target I scooped it up.  Every item I got is beautifully packaged in a glass container and they are very vintage looking.  I love all of it and especially the pricing (every item was under $10).  I am super excited about these products and I'm getting really excited to review them!

What are some of your favorite shopping tips this month?  Please share!
