Eye Primer Review

Hello all. Hope you had a good weekend. I'm going to review three eye primers:
1. Mary Kay Signature Eye Primer, $12 at Mary Kay, can also find in the $4-5 range on new, .3oz/8.5g
2. Palladio herbal eyeshadow primer, $7.19 with card at Sallys Beauty or $7.99 at ULTA. 5ml, .17 fl oz
3. Benefit Cosmetics Stay Don't Stray, $26.00 or 10.0mL 0.33 US fl. oz.

Top to Bottom is Mary Kay, Palladio, and Benefit

Left to right: 1) No primer, 2) Mary Kay, 3) Palladio, 4) Benefit. This is 2 medium pressure swipes with the applicator that came with my Profusion eye shadow palette (.99 cents at Walgreens for 12 shadows)

Mary Kay goes on with a slight tackiness, but not in a bad way. Its a feeling that you know is going to have great staying power for your eye shadows. Palladio has a slight grainy texture so I was surprised about that. It does however blend in well and has a nice smooth feel to it. I'm not too impressed with the Benefit nude color, it doesn't look the best on my lids, although if you have lid imperfections this one has the color to cover it up more than the others.

Obviously you aren't going to be swiping your figure over your eyeshadow like this, but I just wanted to test the staying power in a big way. The first swatch without any primer obviously swept right off, the Palladio one had the best staying power and was the hardest to wash off. Mary Kay had good staying power and Benefit's Stay Don't Stray had the worst. Apparently you can use Benefits as a concealer primer as well, although I have not tried it that way. Maybe I would have more luck using it for that purpose. But at this point, this is a mini I will not be repurchasing.

My favorite eye primer is still Mary Kay's out of these three I have tested. Palladio is a good value for the price and I would likely repurchase. I thought the most vibrant color was Mary Kay, the second most vibrant was Palladio, and the 3rd was Benefit. I'm always looking for the most vibrant of colors. This color is one from a Profusion palette #3 that was .99 cents at Walgreens for 12 shadows. I absolutely love the colors and will be heading back to Walgreens to repurchase the other palettes! Although the glittery ones didn't even look worth the .99 cents.

What is your favorite eye primer? I know Urban Decay and Too Faced are the top high end eye primers, however if you're looking for a great primer at a lower price, I would check out Mary Kay and Palladio.
