Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayons {Review}

Happy first day of fall! I don't know about you, but I use this time of year as a great reason to pick up some new makeup for fall. Lately, I've been totally obsessed with lip products. During the summer months I really try to stay natural with light pinks and tinted lip balms, but for fall, I just get hit with a fever to have a lippie that really packs a punch and I knew right where to turn....Bite Beauty!

I've said it before and I'll continue to say it that Bite Beauty is one of my absolute favorite brands for lip products. They always smell great, are moisturizing, contain great ingredients and unlike many other lip products they really last a long time! I also had a formal military event to attend with my boyfriend and so I knew that I wanted a color that was a little more neutral and wearable so I wouldn't have to be worrying about my lipstick all night, but I also wanted a color I'd get a lot of use out of for a lot of different occasions. I settled on Sucre which is a warm pink color. I loved it so much that later I went back and purchased Peche which is a warm peach.

Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayons ($24,
Naturally derived orange peel wax is extracted from oranges and provides the same benefits for your lips as it does for the juicy fruit: protects and seals moisture while providing a waterproof layer on the surface of the lips. These creamy crayons are longwearing, rich in colour, a deliver a burst of citrus scent upon application.

Triple-milled pigments are combined with organic fruit butters, jojoba and castor oil to provide a creamy, yet powdery-light finish. The 5mg of antioxidant rich resveratrol fights free radicals around the lip line. The matte finish takes the colours from gaudy to gorgeous.

As I get older, I'm more drawn to matte shades than I use to be. I use to be all about the glossy shiny finish. Now I find myself reaching for a lot more mattes in both lip products and eye products. I just think it really gives you a classic look that you can't go wrong with. The matte finish was just another great feature of these lip products. The color is highly pigmented and one swipe is all you need. I do like how these come with a pointed tip which makes it really easy to perfectly line your lips but of course after a couple of uses the tip starts to become rounded.

What I really love about this product is that it is totally worry free. Every time I stopped in the bathroom during my formal event, I would do a makeup check. I would re-apply some lipstick out of habit sometimes even though really it looked perfect still. It really lasted great throughout a night which included some drinks, food and lots of conversation. I loved that I didn't have to worry about my lipstick fading unevely, traveling over the lip line or smearing at all. I also absolutely loved the color and I've worn it many times since. Each time it has felt moisturizing and really lasted hours upon hours. There are so many gorgeous colors in this line too that you really must check them out!

What do you think of this color or line of lip crayons? Have you tried Bite Beauty before? Comment and let me know, I'd love to hear from you!

Fend off the Seasonal Flu with Walgreens Get a Shot

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #GetAShot #CollectiveBias

With flu season right around the corner, it's important to know about your available community resources to fend off the pesky seasonal flu bug. When I need a flu shot or immunization, I go to Walgreens. I chose to go to Walgreens because it has convenient locations, the shots are affordable and may be covered by insurance, the service was quick and the staff was knowledgeable. I definitely felt comfortable getting my flu shot at Walgreens and also felt that I would be protected for flu season.

One other thing I'm truly impressed about at Walgreens is their Get a Shot. Give a Shot. campaign. This is a partnership with the United Nation Foundation's Shot@Life campaign. For every flu shot or immunization you receive at Walgreens from September 2nd through October 13th, you will help provide a life-saving vaccine to a child in a developing country. Walgreens also donates flu vaccines in the United States and has donated $10 million worth of free flu shot vouchers to Americans without health insurance coverage for a flu shot and those unable to afford one without a voucher through the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to help drive immunization rates among underserved populations throughout the country.

I've been lucky to have the opportunity to travel and to see a lot of wonderful and beautiful places. One of the places that I've traveled to that most sticks out in my mind is Cyprus. It has an interesting history as it is a politically divided island which is comprised of mainly of people of Turkish or Greek descent.

I was able to see first hand some of stark differences between other countries and the United States. It definitely made me thankful for where I live and the ability to have access to health care and immunizations. It is important to me to support a program like Walgreens Get a Shot. Give a Shot and the United Nation Foundation Shot@Life campaign that helps those that are not quite as fortunate.

Did you know?
  • Immunization is one of the world's biggest public health success stories. Yet, 1 in 5 children around the globe still lack access to the lifesaving immunizations. Coordinated worldwide vaccination efforts have made significant progress, particularly in reducing cases of measles and polio.
  • Seventy-five percent of unvaccinated children live in just 10 countries.
  • Vaccines are an especially important health intervention because they level the playing field for the most vulnerable children who are otherwise unlikely to make it to a doctor or a hospital.
  • Vaccines have won several battles against preventable diseases in the last few decades. Thanks to a coordinated global effort, the number of new cases of polio — a disease that once paralyzed more than 1,000 children a day — has dropped 99 percent in the last 20 years.
So if you're planning on getting a flu shot this season, be sure to stop by your local convenient Walgreens location. Do so before before October 13th so you can be part of the Get a Shot. Give a Shot campaign which will help provide a life-saving vaccine to a child in a developing country.

Tarte's Timeless Smoothing Primer

I definitely notice that as I get older, I put more and more of a focus on skin care and products which can help and hide the early signs of aging. I find a less is more approach works better and I find myself more drawn to simple makeup that creates a natural and healthy finish. One of the products I've been reaching for a lot lately to accomplish that kind of look is Tart'es Timeless Smoothing Primer.

Press Sample. All opinions are my own.
I'm kind of a primer junkie and I've tried countless primers. A few years ago I didn't even know what a primer was or why you should use it, but now it is a daily step in my makeup routine that can't be miss. Basically a primer is a base for you foundation. It can smooth out your skin and any imperfections and also make your foundation last longer.

A melt-in smoothing primer with innovative blurring and filling technology for a youthful appearance perfectly primed for makeup application. Gently melts into the skin delivering a surge of moisture, peptides and other naturally-derived elixirs for a firmer, smoother appearance. You’ll love the lightweight texture and fresh powder scent as it provides the perfect blank canvas to enhance the look and wear time of makeup. Contains Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Green Bean Extract and Mineral Pigments. Retails $39 for .5 fl ounces.

My thoughts:
Overall I really like this product. I notice the biggest difference in some fine lines I have on my forehead. When I apply this primer to that area, I can visibly see the lines being filled in thus becoming less noticeable. The other big thing I notice with this product it that my skin is so absolutely smooth after. I just love the silky feeling this leaves me with. This also provided a nice canvas to apply my makeup over. I usually use Tarte's colored clay CC Primer with a DHC Skincare pressed powder over. I did notice my makeup wore well with this primer but not noticeably different than other primers. Although this is a large jar of product, it does come at a $39 price tag. I prefer primers in bottles that I can squeeze the product out. I tend to overuse products otherwise and have found that you don't need a lot of this product to cover your skin.

Check out my reviews of Tarte's Colored Clay products. If you're looking to purchase just one or two (or a few!) items from Tarte this fall, I would first pick up the colored clay tinted brow gel, colored clay cc undereye corrector and the rainforest palette. Which Tarte product are you in love with for fall?

POPSUGAR Must Have Box for August 2014

POPSUGAR provided me with a complimentary POPSUGAR Must Have box. The opinions I have shared about the box are my own and POPSUGAR did not tell me what to say or how to say it.
POPSUGAR Must Have Box is a monthly subscription box that costs $39.95 per month. They also come out with certain special edition boxes. The fall style box right now has already sold out. The boxes include hand-selected items in beauty, fashion, home, fitness, and food and are full-size and premium items. Shipping is included. Sign up at

Paddywax Oceain Tide + Sea Salt Mini Jar Candle
It's all about the ambiance-that's why we're obsessed with this hand-poured candle. With fragrance notes of sea salt and the ocean tide, this soy-wax candle brings the beach to you. Retails $10.

This is an adorable candle in a blue glass container with a light clean scent. If you're not much of a candle person, this would also make a great gift for someone else. I can be sensitive to some scents but this seems like a light enough scent to me that it won't irritate my senses. I just love the design as well, plus the color matches my current decor...perfect!

Bite Beauty Lush Fruit Lip
To celebrate POPSUGAR Must Have's second birthday, Bite Beauty created this new shade just for the occasion. With noursing strawberry, coconut and avocado oils, this gloss is a super fruit smoothie for your lips. This full size gloss retails for $22. Bite Beauty is one of my absolute favorite brand and I already own a bunch of their glosses. I was super excited to see this full size product in this month's box. The color really is a color that would be flattering on many women, so I'm glad they included a more sheer pink that most can enjoy.

Kendra Scott Elisa Necklace in Black Cat's Eye
Add some extra shimmer to your outfit with this pendant necklace perfect for everyday wear. The black oval stone and delicate chain make this piece an instant classic. Retails for $50. Personally, I'm much more of a silver person than a gold person, but because of the delicate and sophisticated style of this necklace, it's definitely something I'll be able to get good use out of. I use to be drawn more to statement neckalces, but in the last year or so, I've really been wearing small simple necklaces. I'm glad to have another great versatile pick to my collection of simple necklaces. (Some boxes contained a pair of earrings instead of a necklace).

Goodbyn Purple Meal and Dipper Set
Keeping track of meal portions in a portable way has never been easier thanks to Goodbyn's container set. Dishwasher safte and versatile, this set is ideal for packing food on the go. This was a nice addition, especially with back to school right around the corner. I'll be using these to help me get organized and pack lunches for work. I've really been making an effort to eat out less often and so this will definitely help out with meal planning on the go. Retails $8.

Lollia At Last Perfumed Shower Gel
At last a shower gel that leaves you feeling clean and smelling simply amazing. Infused with shea butter and jojoba oil, this shower gel will keep your skin refreshed and smelling divine. This was packaged in a seperate plastic bag which was much appreciated as the cap did come a little loose and there was some product that had come out. I just had to rinse off the shower gel and everything was fine, but I did notice the scent was a little to perfumed for me. With such an adorable package design, this will make a great gift for me to give to a friend or family member. I'm pretty pleased that with all of the products in this box there is only one that I wasn't over the moon about. Retails $22.

thinkThin Brownie Crunch High Protein Bar
If you need a quick energy boost, look no further than these high-protein bars! Packed with 20 grams of protein and 0 grams of sugar, they're a delicious and healthy way to fuel your day. I've seen these bars at stores before and I've been curious about them, but I hadn't tried them until my POPSUGAR Must Have box. I was really glad that this delicious treat was in there. I'm always looking for healthy options to grab on the go that are going to keep me full when I don't have time for lunch. With 230 calories, this could serve as a meal replacement bar. I scanned this on Fooducate and it came up as a B rating in the bar category. I was also glad to see that they used non GMO soy. This does contain almonds, milk and soy for those with food allergies. This is definitely something I can see myself purchasing. It wasn't super sweet (there are 0 grams of sugar but there it does contain glycerin which can act as a sweetner), but it did curb my hunger and gave the feeling as if I just had a treat.

The Mason Jar Cookie Company
Celebrate! Make any celebration even more festive with your mason jar cookie mix. Just add butter and an egg to this premeasured baking mix for a delicous treat. Retails $12.

The total value of this box was nearly $130 and it retails at $39.95. Although this box is more expensive than some other monthly subscription boxes, I feel like the variety and quality of the products are worth it. This was truly a surprise which made my day. I came home to this from a stressful day at work and just absolutely loved getting a treat in the mail. I opened this and discovered one amazing item after the other. They certainly hit it out of the park for August 2014!

Relax with Laura Mercier’s Verbena Infusion

This August, take some time to relax before the summer is over and the business of another school year begins. In order to fully enjoy my limited relaxation time lately, I've been using the Laura Mercier Gel Body Scrub which has a Verbena Infusion.

August 2014 Launches:
· Dry Oil Body Mist, $45
· Gel Body Scrub, $40

April 2014 Launches:
· Gel Body Moisture, $45
· Crème Body Cleanse, $30
· Eau Fraiche Eau de Toilette, $55
Inspired by the countryside of Provence, Laura captures the crisp freshness of Verbena to invigorate the senses. A sparkling bouquet of green citrus and leafy spearmint infuse beautifully with petals of fresh blossoms and a touch of white amber and cedarwood. The products leave behind arefreshing sensation that rejuvenates the body. This gel cleanser gently exfoliates while removing impurities without drying or stripping skin of its natural oils. A multi-vitamin complex soothes and nourishes skin while natural Coconut water drenches skin in moisture. Skin is left soft, smooth and rejuvenated.

My thoughts:
I definitely have a love affair with body scrubs and I love to test a lot of them out. This product stood out to me in a couple of ways and was definitely something that caught my attention. The first thing is the texture of this body scrub. It is like the name suggests and it does have a more gel like feel. This makes the texture unique and kind of fun to get your hands into, but it also allows it to just glide onto your skin when applied.

I also noticed a difference in how this is applied and how it feels immediately after. It turns into a really nice silky texture that is unlike any other body scrub I've tried. It also allows you to cover a greater part of your body with less product which is great since this does cost $40. I think the price tag can be well worth it for the way it makes you feel and for how great your skin looks and feels afterwards. I am  more sensitive to scents, but this fragrance did not bother me one bit. It is strong enough that the scent does linger and not fade away soon after a shower, however, it is also gentle enough not to irritate the senses. I fell in love with this at first try and my boyfriend immediately noticed and comment that I smelled really great too. I thought my skin was soft to the touch and using the product just made me feel really pampered and beautiful and that is a feeling you can't quite put a price tag on! This may be a splurge item, but I don't think you'll regret your splurge at all, so go out and enjoy, pamper yourself and relax!

Gillette Fusion Proglide Razor for a Smooth Summer

This shop has been compenstated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #SmoothSummer #CollectiveBias

Okay, so it's already mid-August and the days left of summer are getting shorter. This has been such a wonderful summer for me with lots of trips to see family and my niece and nephew, swimming, enjoying the sunshine and taking day trips with my boyfriend. I've also enjoyed some special romantic nights out with my man. When we've got something special planned or an event to go to, like a formal military dinner we've got coming up, it's nice to see my man with a clean shave and dressed up for the occasion. It can take us hours to get ready with doing our hair and makeup and choosing the perfect dress, accessories and shoes, but its much simpler for most men. However, that doesn't mean that I don't pay attention to my man's appearance and appreciate it when he puts in some extra effort.

One way he can show me that is by having a smooth clean shaven face. There is just something about a man dressed up with a smooth face that makes for a #SmoothSummer. I don't mind my boyfriend being scruffy from time to time, but it does make me feel good when he puts in the extra effort for a special night out. This made me think more about what I want in a relationship and what I expect from my partner. I was trying to think of some of the things that were most important to me that my boyfriend does.

What Women Want: (or what this woman does!)
1. A man who listens
2. A man who is thoughtful
3. A man who plans special occasions
4. A man who tells her he loves her
5. A man with a clean shave to snuggle up to

I picked the black razor for him as I thought he would prefer that one, but it also comes in silver. I was intrigued by the innovative design and it had caught his eye as well. I also purchased the shave gel for him and got the soothing kind as I have noticed he does get some irritation from shaving, especially after shaving his head. My boyfriend was really impressed with the razor and the gel. It was easy for him to get a smooth shave, especially in the harder to shave areas. He had no irritation after and was happy as could be with his smooth look.

The Fusion ProGlide razor with new FlexBall Technology responds to contours. Our best blades are now 2X preferred when used with FlexBall Technology (overall preference vs. former ProGlide, among ProGlide users). FlexBall Technology makes maximum contact.* Thinner, finer blades** for less tug and pull.
